Rémy Martin’s 300th Anniversary Coupe Dinner
Boathouse
As part of its ongoing tricentennial celebrations, the House of Rémy Martin recently hosted an exclusive dinner at the glittering Boathouse in Ampang, highlighted by the spectacular unveiling of its limited-edition 300th Anniversary Coupe. Held on 13 June, the momentous evening was graced by Tyrel Ball, Managing Director of Rémy Cointreau – South & North Asia Pacific (SNAP), alongside esteemed clients, media, and industry partners.
Thanesh Joel, bartender at Backdoor Bodega and the local champion of this year’s Bartender Talent Academy competition, served up an array of refreshing Rémy Martin cocktails behind the bar as guests indulged in pre-dinner canapes.
Undeniably the most anticipated part of the evening was the exclusive tasting of the 300th Anniversary Coupe, which presented a luminous amber patina when observed under the light. On the nose, the special release offered bright aromas of candied orange and passion fruit, rounded off by a delicate combination of sandalwood, leather, mixed spices, and floral notes.
Upon the first sip, the spirit afforded an impressive structure that bursts with candied fruit, fig and passion fruit notes. A second sip prolongs its elegant, refined finish with additional hints of exotic fruits, nuts, and oak – the perfect toast to Rémy Martin’s storied past, glorious present, and promising future.
In line with the theme ‘We Dream Forward’, Eat and Cook – known for its modern interpretation of Malaysian flavours – was tasked with curating dishes to complement the highly prized cognac release. Led by Chef Yongzhi, the Michelin Selected Restaurant 2024 and no. 79 on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2023 extended 51-100 list prepared a tantalising four-course menu that left guests satisfied and impressed.
For starters, guests were served Seared Scallops with Paku Salad, followed by a Grilled Slipper Lobster elevated with buttermilk curry, salad, and curry leaf foam. The main course was a Signature Roasted Aged Mountain Duck, accompanied by duck jus, braised mustard greens with herbs and tamarind, smoked duck liver, and fish garum pate pie. Ending the meal on a sweet note was a dessert named Signature Apam Balik 3.0, consisting of fermented rice cake, white corn cream, peanut candy, and coconut cracker. Guests were also serenaded with live music throughout the evening, in between live tarot card readings.
Only 84 individually numbered bottles of the unique 300th Anniversary Coupe are available in Malaysia. Interested customers may purchase the bottle at The Chamber (The Starhill, Pavilion Bukit Jalil, Sunway Pyramid), BSC Fine Foods, B.I.G Publika, and Hank’s The Gardens Mall.
