Get your little black dress pressed, high buns secured and pearls in place. You can now have breakfast at Tiffany’s with the opening of its Blue Box Café in New York.
The jeweller has transformed the fourth floor of its Fifth Avenue flagship store into a legit café, complete with cushioned seats and marbled walls boasting its now signature robin egg blue.
What’s on the menu this morning?
Coffee and croissants of course, for US$29.
Feeling for something a little fancier? They also have avocado toast, truffled eggs and smoked salmon bagel with schmear. The bagel may not be as lavish as The Westin New York’s US$1,000 bagel with gold flakes, but eating amidst Tiffany’s home and accessories collections that are also housed on the same floor cannot quite be compared.
Chief artistic officer Reed Krakoff said, “Both the café and redesign of the home & accessories floor reflect a modern luxury experience. The space is experimental and experiential — a window into the new Tiffany.”
The new Tiffany he is referring to is the brand’s efforts in diversifying its offerings from just its jewellery. Tiffany had released a new fragrance a month back – the Tiffany Eau de Parfum.
This is reflective of changing economic and social times when consumer’s shopping habits are transforming, with millenials choosing to spend more on experiences than material goods.
