Defined by puffy, ruched sleeves and often complemented with boat or sweetheart necklines, the milkmaid sleeve quite literally earned its name from the humble milkmaid and her decidedly feminine ensemble as she milked cows in the meadows. Not all ‘fashion influencers’ come from metropolitan cities, after all.
