Better known to TV and movie buffs as Sherlock or Dr Strange, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s latest ambassador will be making his horology debut at SIHH next week.
There will be a familiar face representing Jaeger-LeCoultre at SIHH next week – none other than actor Benedict Cumberbatch.
Selected for his natural embodiment of elegance and integrity, Cumberbatch is an energetic individual who dedicates his time offscreen to family and charitable endeavours. JLC is therefore unsurprisingly excited to welcome their latest friend to the world of horology.
Cumberbatch is best known for his modern-day reinterpretation of the world’s most famous detective in the Sherlock series. It is from this role that he first shot to cult-status fame, winning several awards including an Emmy. More recently, his portrayal of Alan Turning in The Imitation Game earned him BAFTA, Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations.
You’d certainly remember him as Marvel’s Dr Strange too, where he sports a Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual engraved watch. The romantic engraving of this piece even contributes to the movie’s plotline.
Next up, we’ll see him reprise this role in Avengers: Infinity War.
Describing himself as a great watchmaking enthusiast, Cumberbatch says, “I am delighted to be associated with such an outstanding watch manufacturer as Jaeger-LeCoultre and to be visiting the Manufacture in the Vallée de Joux in January.”
