The St. Regis KL
The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur reintroduces its Malaysiaku: Culinary Tales of Folklores and Fables menu, on select dates in August and September – with the 31st of August definitely one of them. First featured back in 2021, the menu is brought back due to popular demand and features dishes that are carefully curated using traditional cooking methods and local harvests from all 14 states – showcasing the unique flavours and culinary gems that define the nation’s rich landscape.
The dinner, held at The Brasserie, is priced at RM388 with a wine pairing option at an additional RM200. For reservations, call 03-2727 1077.
Mandarin Oriental KL
Indulge in a sumptuous dinner buffet this Merdeka 2024 weekend with Mandarin Oriental‘s offering of a rich Malaysian spread. On top of that, the hotel will be serving a special à la carte menu, available on 30 August, at multiple dining venues that feature an exclusive Merdeka menu while extending their service until 1:00 am. This unique offering ensures that guests can continue to enjoy classic Malaysian dishes including pasembor, kari laksa, and durian pancake in a variety of elegant settings throughout the evening, making it an unforgettable dining experience during the Merdeka weekend, culminating with a firework display organised by KLCC.

Four Points by Sheraton KLCC
The signature restaurant of Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur City Centre, The Mesh, dishes a lavish spread of Malaysian flavours inspired by local and regional nuances for its Merdeka 2024 offerings. Themed “Digarhayu Malaysia” translated to “Long Live Malaysia,” some of the highlights include Malay-style roasted lamb leg, seabass bakar Kampung Baru, and even a Ramly Burger station plus Lok-lok station, and many more. There’s also a special discount for guests staying at the hotel and chances to win vouchers.

Grand Millennium KL
The “Jelajah Selera Malaysia” brings guests on a tour of the nation’s flavours at the Grand Millennium, for this Merdeka 2024 offering. From August 31 to September 30, The Mill Cafe – the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant serves a tantalising spread of delectable Malaysian culinary treats. Among the noteworthy highlights of the buffet is a selection of dishes from Peninsular Malaysia’s various states, each flaunting its unique local culinary heritage.

The Chow Kit Hotel
The Chow Kit invites you to savour the best of Malay cuisine from across the country with its “A Taste of Chow Kit” menu. Diners will be spoilt for choice between the ayam kari Kapitan and the kambing Kuzi, the sambal udang and the squid sambal petai, as well as the brussel sprout sambal ikan bilis, and the terung balado. Choose a starter, and two types of dishes from its meat & poultry selection, a seafood dish, and a vegetable dish respectively for a delectable culinary experience.

The Merdeka 2024 offering by Imperial Lexis is for those who want to toast the night away. Available for a limited time from 26 August to 17 September 2024, these unique beverages are a perfect blend of tradition and innovation, paying homage to Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage. Taste concoctions like the Liberty Jack-Fruity Cocktail or the Sparkling Ketayap Mocktail; and the best part is you can enjoy the drinks with a stunning view of the KLCC Twin Towers as your gorgeous backdrop.

Inside Scoop
Of course, it’s not just hotels and restaurants which are having promotions and Merdeka offerings. Local ice cream chain Inside Scoop also partnered with four other local brands to release limited-time flavours. Namely Farm Fresh, Secret Recipe, Beryl’s, and Zus Coffee to create the Choco Malt, Chocolate Indulgence, Tiramisu Almond Chocolate, and Earl Grey Cham Latte flavours respectively.
