From participating in the Pink Distance Parade at Pavilion KL to enjoying a Pink Afternoon Tea at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur.
According to Cancer Research Malaysia, about 5,000 women in Malaysia are diagnosed with breast cancer every year. Until today, it is still the world’s leading cause of cancer mortality in women. Given the statistics, chances are we know at least one breast cancer victim in our circle of family and friends.
As many campaigns as there are that drive breast cancer awareness every October, the message continues to be as important today as ever. The fact remains the same: prevention is better than cure. And action is better than reaction – whether you’re a victim, a victim’s loved one or simply an empathetic individual hoping to make a difference in the world.
On that note, here are five ways to show your support for Pink October 2020 through activities and initiatives happening all this month.
Participate in the Pink Distance Parade
Show off your creativity and have fun with friends at the same time by participating in the Pink Distance Parade happening this Saturday, 10th October 2020 at Pavilion KL. Groups of between 2 to 4 will be walking together in pink costumes that adhere to the “new norm” and social distancing practices, be it gigantic hats, supersized shoes or extended shoulder details. This fun event is aimed at increasing the awareness of breast cancer, while inspiring the imagination. Each group that signs up will receive a goodie bag and best costumes stand to win product hampers sponsored by Estee Lauder Companies Malaysia. For more information, log on to the MODA website here.
Self-Love Escapes with Alia B and Supparetreat
Just as it’s important for you to practice breast self-examination every month, it’s also essential to take care of your holistic wellness. That’s why Alia B and Supparetreat have teamed up to offer a series of mini escapes for you to practice self-care while contributing to the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM). Held every Saturday of the month at the Alia Bastamam showroom, the five unique events are designed to nurture the mind, body and soul through activities such as meditation, flow movements and sound baths. Learn more here or sign up for the events at the official Supparetreat website here.
Join The Breast Cancer Campaign by Estee Lauder
Showing your support for the cause can be as simple as posting a pink photo on social media, as The Breast Cancer Campaign by Estee Lauder entails. (We’d suggest something informative on breast cancer in line with the main objective of Pink October.) For every public Instagram or Facebook post on the feed during the month of October featuring the hashtags #TimeToEndBreastCancer and #ELCdonates together, Estee Lauder Companies will donate $25 to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, up to a total of $100,000.
Besides that, you can also purchase a limited-edition Pink Ribbon product from one of its 20 participating brands, including Estee Lauder, in which a portion of sales will be donated to the BCRF. Better yet, you can even make a donation directly to the foundation and dedicate it in honour of someone or get your employer to match your contribution here. For more information, visit the brand’s website here.
