It may have opened its doors a few years now, but this great dining spot nestled within Aurum Theatre in The Gardens Mall, Kuala Lumpur is more than just a restaurant for cinema-goers.
JIN Gastrobar is best known for serving up gourmet in-movie dining for cinema-goers. Still, it is the dining area of the restaurant and bar, tastefully decorated to mirror the plush settings of the theatre, that brings a certain uniqueness to this dining spot. With its art-deco and cinema-inspired interiors and cosy booth seatings, moviegoers and non-moviegoers alike are invited to wine and dine in these halls.
As for the menu, JIN Gastrobar also serves up hearty meals and an extensive wine and beverage list. The menu here spans appetisers, mains and desserts and the selection is specifically continental. Expect favourites such as mini Wagyu beef burgers, seafood aglio olio, Angus ribeye steak among others.
We recommend the grilled rack of lamb and the warm apple strudel, served with a generous dollop of vanilla ice cream. There is also a humble dessert menu of original cheesecake, churros with strawberry and chocolate sauce and a decadent chocolate lava cake.
In case you haven’t noticed by their name, the gin selection is one of their highlights. The signature “gintonicas” are a must-try, made with cucumber, lemongrass, and grapefruit among other fresh ingredients. The bartender’s recommendation? The Spanish Gintonica, is made with Spanish Gin and is best enjoyed with a selection of sharing plates.
Open to the public, diners can opt to dine at the bar, the dining area or if you’re watching a movie served straight to your seat. JIN Gastrobar is currently available at two locations: The Gardens Mall in Kuala Lumpur and The Mall, Mid Valley Southkey in Johor Bahru.
