The exclusive Mumm Grand Cordon has tasting notes of fresh fruits and caramel, having been crafted from 300 Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier base wines, sourced from over 100 different crus.
G.H. Mumm has officially introduced its new hallmark cuvée to Malaysia – the Mumm Grand Cordon, as well as the Mumm Cordon Rosé, finally completing the Maison’s iconic range of champagnes available in the country.
To introduce the newly expanded range of iconic champagnes to Malaysia, the Maison held a 5-day pop-up boutique for the first time at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur from the 23rd to the 27th of October.
Malaysians were given an exclusive first sneak peek and first taste of the Mumm Grand Cordon during the pop-up event, prior to the special bottle’s official release. Guests at the pop-up boutique could also purchase a pair of Mumm champagne flutes complete with an engraving, in time for the end-of-year holiday festivities. Guests could also try their hand at virtual sabering – which is the technique of opening a champagne bottle with a saber.

In true celebration of the Maison’s success and range of champagnes, it collaborated with Malaysian bespoke perfumer OLFAC3 to come up with a signature Mumm scent – a fresh and uplifting fragrance inspired by the lush aromas of Mumm Grand Cordon champagne. Guests can sniff this exclusive scent for themselves at future Mumm tasting events in and around Kuala Lumpur in future.
The new Mumm Grand Cordon bottle is one its most innovative redesign efforts in the brand’s history. The redesign was a result of a collaboration between the Maison and avant-garde industrial designer Ross Lovegrove. The new bottle pays homage to the iconic red sash of France’s highest civilian award, the Légion d’Honneur, a sash that has been featured on every Mumm champagne bottle since 1876.
The exclusive Mumm Grand Cordon has tasting notes of fresh fruits and caramel, having been crafted from 300 Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier base wines, sourced from over 100 different crus. The newly redesigned bottle is made of 75% recycled glass and is structured to be the optimal oenological shape complete with an unconventional, slender neck – to accompany the development of the distinctive flavour of this cuvée.
The Grand Cordon is aged for 20 months in the Maison’s cellars, and has a brilliant golden colour. A glass of this exclusive champagne will exude lush aromas of ripe peaches, apricot and pineapple, chased by hints of vanilla and caramel, yeast, dried fruit and honey.
Meanwhile, the Mumm Cordon Rosé is an independent spirit. This rosé champagne uses Chardonnay grapes for elegance and minerality and Pinot Meunier grapes for roundness and balance. It also features up to 14% of distinctive red Pinot Noir wines, sourced from some of the Champagne’s most prestigious villages.
This salmon-coloured champagne has intense aromas of fresh strawberries, cherries and redcurrants accompanied by a swirling undercurrent of vanilla and caramel. With a lively and energetic flavour, this dry champagne reveals hints of summer fruits undercut by a long savoury finish.
G.H Mumm is part of Martell Mumm Perrier-Jouët, the prestigious cognac and champagne business of Pernod Ricard and is the leading international champagne House in France.
