Dubbed the Helious Mahjong Set, it boasts 144 tiles printed in full calfskin leather and solid palisander wood.
Now that overseas travel is officially cancelled for the rest of the year, we’ll likely be resorting to these three things to keep ourselves entertained: discovering one of Malaysia’s hidden gems, binge watching travel films and planning a series of house parties or game nights.
On that last note, some of the world’s top designer houses have got you covered for an extravagant bash. Think Louis Vuitton billiards and Jenga sets or the more recently launched Hermès leather mahjong set that only sets you back by RM186,700.
That’s right, mahjong mates, the French luxury brand is now offering the Birkin of all mahjong sets that comes up to roughly RM1,297 per tile. Dubbed the Helious Mahjong Set, it boasts 144 tiles printed in full calfskin leather and solid palisander wood. While this means a gentler shuffling sound that may not be quite as satisfying as the regular marble tiles, the tradeoff texture of leather and wood – plus the Hermès branding – is enough to earn your richest uncle or aunty’s approval.
The set also comes with four dice and score-keeping sticks in the same wood material for an extravagant mahjong experience. Arriving in an exquisitely crafted wood case with leather handles, the set doubles as an eye-catching display in any Crazy Rich Asian-themed home.
We don’t know about you, but we’ve already got this noted down for our Christmas wishlist.
