The Malaysian flag, known as the Jalur Gemilang, is a symbol of the nation’s unity, diversity, and sovereignty. It features fourteen alternating red and white stripes, a blue canton, and a yellow crescent with a fourteen-point star. The fourteen stripes represent the equal status of the thirteen states and the Federal Territories, with red symbolising the courage and strength of the people, while white represents purity and integrity. The blue signifies the unity of the Malaysian people and reflects the harmony among the diverse ethnic groups that make up the nation. The yellow crescent and star, which is the royal colour of the Malay rulers, represent Islam, the country’s official religion, and the unity between the states and the Federal Government.
So depending on your mood or just your choice of outfit, we’ve got a list of colourful watches that will pop on your wrist.
Red
The Patek Philippe Aquanaut in red was crafted as a nod to Singapore’s signature colour – which at the time was part of Malaysia, back in 1957, when we gained independence. The limited edition watch, with a production run of 500 pieces, was launched back in 2019, as part of the brand’s grand exhibition in Singapore.
The Chanel Boy.Friend range debuted in 2015, and is named as such because essentially, it’s so alluring, that your boyfriend would want to steal it from you. This iteration of Boy.Friend Skeleton uses the same in-house Caliber 3 but with deep scarlet plates and bridges, plus a striking alligator pattern calfskin strap.
The Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra collection boasts a variety of colourful watches, with a range of dial shades, and two different sizes available – with entirely polished stainless steel cases either in 38 mm or 34 mm. And all are presented with a co-axial master chronometer movement.
White
White ceramic is apparently tougher to manufacture as compared to black, so this model by Audemars Piguet is not just visually appealing, but also a mechanical marvel. The silvered Grande Tapisserie dial has pink gold applied hour markers and Royal Oak hands with luminescent coating. One can also view the Calibre 5800 which was designed specifically for the Royal Oak 34 mm through the pink gold caseback.
The Hublot Big Bang Unico White Ceramic 44 mm features a white ceramic case, a skeletonised dial, and the maison’s HUB1242 Unico movement. It combines luxury with functionality, offering a flyback chronograph, rubber strap, and 100-meter water resistance to top it all off.
A symbol of purity. A perpetual pleasure to wear. The suave successor in the RM 037 collection, this new interpretation in white ceramic is an exciting addition to the Richard Mille women’s collection. This model combines white ceramic, mother-of-pearl and white gold for the very first time. With a baseplate and bridges in black PVD-treated grade 5 titanium, it has an oversized date display at 12 o’clock as well as a function selector at 4 o’clock, used to select between winding, neutral, and hand setting actions without touching the crown.
Blue
It’s highly unlikely you’re the person to own this colourful timepiece. Breguet proudly presents a one-off version of its Marine Hora Mundi model in a gorgeous blue. This Breguet-patented mechanism is the only device serving to change time zone at a single click – a technical feat made possible by handling the pusher and crown.
With its striking blue dial, this commemorative limited edition watch perfectly expresses the quiet but strong character of Grand Seiko. And the Zaratsu polished, distortion-free mirror finish and delicate hairline finish alternate gives the case a quiet and harmonious glow. The case has wide lugs and a low centre of gravity that ensures that the watch sits easily and securely on the wrist.
Following the 2016 launch of the Golden Bridge Round in 43mm, Corum offers an additional model in a case size of 39mm for those who prefer a smaller case size and available in a choice of several materials and colours. The combination of a round case and beautifully engraved and finished inline movement turned on its side perfectly complement one another, while the extra embellishment of precious resin and diamonds surrounding the fully visible calibre add colour, sparkle, shine, and Art Deco-inspired eye-catching brilliance.
Yellow
All that glitters is (yellow) gold. And what’s good is that Chopard has committed to using ethical gold since 2018. The watch’s case is made of 18k Fairmined yellow gold that is polished throughout and features a hinged hunter-style caseback that can be lifted using a small button to reveal the mechanics.
The lightweight Breitling Endurance Pro watch is designed for men and women whose active lives blend a professional mindset with a sporty lifestyle. The colourful Endurance Pro watches can live up to the challenges of a rigorous workout, while being fashionable enough for everyday wear, thanks to its exciting range of shades.
These watches embody timeless form and function, firmly rooted in the origins of the brand. When it comes to colourful watches, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual has been known to have fun and exciting dial options, and this yellow version is one of them.
