Burberry’s parade of LGBTQ symbolisms and Gucci’s post-human exhibit both allude to future odds that already exist, to a certain extent, in the world today.
Fendi too has had the future in mind for over a year now, given by its F is For… manifesto. Now, to celebrate its first anniversary, F is For… presents its first ever genderless t-shirt.
Here are 5 things you should know about the new androgynous fashion item.
Inspiration
It is inspired by The Ring of the Future artwork, involving the collaboration of six street artists from around the world: Gary Stranger (UK), Casper (Japan), Hillel Smith (USA), Cave (Iran), Roes (China) and Jodae (Korea). These artists met on the iconic PDCI rooftop in Rome for the first time to write the word FUTURE in their respective languages, creating what they call a boundary-blind art.
Innovation
It is the first product developed under the F is For… special project – Fendi’s innovative communication platform curated for millennials by millennials.
Introduction
It was launched in conjunction with the first anniversary of the F is For… project, which has actively shared content arising from various passions, including art, people and places in its debut year.
Symbolism
It pushes the boundaries of fashion, symbolising how people of different races and religions can come together in the name of Art and Creativity. The ring shape is made to evoke a visual embrace – where the last alphabet or character in a language meets the next seamlessly – signifying a cultural hypnotic loop.
Availability
Dedicated to everyone, everywhere, the t-shirt features a streamlined unisex shape with The Ring of the Future artwork printed in black and yellow on either white or black versions. It is available exclusively online on FENDI.com.
