There’s not a better time to experiment with bold, bright and sparkly makeup than now!

If you’ve been binge-watching makeup tutorials on YouTube and following all your favourite beauty gurus’ Instagram accounts, then you’ll probably have noticed a few recurrent trends in the makeup world lately.

We’re talking about shimmery glitters, unicorn hues and metallic shades – there’s not a better time to experiment with bold, bright and sparkly makeup than now! Here are some trending makeup products on our wishlist to ace your makeup game this season.

Glitter gal

Rihanna's latest Fenty Beauty collection is our idea of the perfect galactic glitter makeup, and this limited edition Cosmic Lip Gloss Glitter in the shade Gal on the Moon is definitely one of our astronomical favourites.

Another stunning galaxy shade we're loving is Monarchy from the Urban Decay Vice Special Effect range. Swipe it over different lipstick bases to achieve customised intergalactic lips!

For a glossy glitter, try M.A.C's Dazzleglass range of bright and light-reflecting colours. This popping pinkish purple Funtabulous shade is as fun and fabulous as its name would suggest.

Add a touch of gold glitter to any lipstick base with shu uemura's new glitter mixer. You can even use your finger to dab a little glitter over your eyes to finish your look (protip for multitasking!).

Have a go at ASNTM finalist Shareeta Selvaraj's glam evening look with the new Too Faced Glitter Bomb Palette.

Metallic muse

Create fun and long-lasting eye makeup looks effortlessly with the YSL full metal eyeshadow range; this dewy gold colour is our pick for its versatility.

If you love dark metallic shades, then Dior's Rouge Dior Liquid  in Poison Metal could be your new holy grail lipstick. It's intense, long-wearing and obviously metallic.

Most highlighters have a satin or shimmery finish, but the Nars Overexposed Glow Highlighter in Double Take gives off an unmistakably metallic golden glow.

"A travel set of double-ended liquid eyeliners and glitter topcoats in three mesmerising metallic shades." Could Tarte's limited edition Metallic Treats Glitter Liner Set be any more irresistible?

Chanel's Illusion D'ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in the shade Griffith Green is that  gorgeous deep sea green pigment we all need in our eyeshadow collection.

Unicorn undertones

Trust Victoria Beckham to come up with yet another stunning collection for Estée Lauder - including this limited edition multi-pearl shimmer lip gloss.

While this limited edition Bobbi Brown eyeshadow trio was made for summer, its shimmery, ocean-inspired shades happen to be colours of our favourite mystical creature. Who says we can't wear bright colours for fall anyway?

One of the most raved about "unicorn makeup" products of 2017 is the Farsali Unicorn Essence. Beauty gurus use it as a moisturising serum and primer to give the face a magical glow.

Becca's Liquid Crystal Glow Gloss range comes in a variety of unique colours, but the Amethyst X Geode is the most unicorn-like with its lavender duo-chrome tone and aquamarine shift.

Emerald, sapphire, amethyst and opal – four holographic pastel shades reminiscent of unicorns. Plus, they're all highly pigmented and blend well all over the face, eyes and lips. Enough said.
