For the first in a series of intimate dinners hosted by Hennessy X.O – The Greatness Odyssey, Hide KL played host to the first Success Spectrum dinner with a gathering of key players from the world of finance to discuss “the future of currency.”
As one of the finest cognacs in the world and the liquid synonymous with achievement among young business owners, Hennessy X.O continues to drive conversation surrounding the Maison and the ‘Greatness is an Odyssey’ campaign which connects the current and the future of business leaders.
Presenters of the night, Juanita Ramayah together with David Low, the SEA General Manager of Luno, played their part in orienting the debate towards market shakers and movers, corporate leaders, and individuals that disrupt and revolutionise the economy.
We follow them on their ‘Greatness is an Odyssey’ story as we continue to be inspired by their experiences. They were chosen for their achievement and embodiment of the X.O spirit.
The lovely course dinner was prepared by Hide’s Chef Shaun Ng Yi. As starters of salmon tartare and freshly shucked oysters with kimchi juice were being served, Low took the guests by surprise by throwing the first question, ‘’I’m sure everyone here has heard of crypto, but have any of you purchased crypto for your own investments?’’.
For a brief moment, major figures were directing their thoughts on the concept of ‘legal’ cryptocurrency. Low and Jared Lim, the founder of Loanstreet, then initiated the next round of conversation, discussing the use of cryptocurrency in building long term-wealth.
Adrian Yap of Money Match, along with his wife Connie Tan then took the spotlight to express their ideas on incorporating cryptocurrency into one’s business. As leaders of Malaysia financial sectors, they juggled the conversation effortlessly. Which acted as an amplifier to embark on a path that totally embraces Hennessey’s tradition and pursuit of quality.
When the mains of Boston lobster and koshihikari rice and aged duck arrived, the movers and shakers from the media and arts industry contributed to the conversation with insights from their respective sectors. Hong Kong artist Kar Wai Chan, and entrepreneurs Vincent Tan and Tan Boon Yao brought their interesting perspectives on crypto and the creation of art NFTs.
As expected, The Success Spectrum successfully kicked off the campaign as a prelude, bringing together leaders, entrepreneurs and changemakers over a dinner as a platform to share their great success stories, goals, and perspectives on a range of topics embodying Hennessy X.O.
Before wrapping up the night, Juanita raised the obvious, ‘’What are the next steps that we can take as leaders in our industries to bring crypto adoption further?’’, a significant question which left Low to express his last and final thoughts;
“That we should all play a positive role to educate movers and shakers on the use case of cryptocurrency & blockchain. Proper education will build awareness on the fundamentals of the technology, which can cultivate further innovation and expand the use case of crypto. I believe through the right steps; Malaysians can safeguard their own crypto. Thus, preventing them from falling for unethical investment schemes. ”
