Maison Cointreau is ushering in a new era with its most significant redesign in almost 140 years. The recently revamped Cointreau L’Unique bottle, with its highly distinctive yet instantly familiar design, pays homage to the brand’s history and the orange itself. With the same iconic recipe, the new packaging takes cues from the distinct qualities of the orange liqueur itself. 

The Cointreau L’Unique bottle has always been unique, much like the crystalline orange liqueur it holds. The initial design of the bottle opted for amber glass with square edges, which have since become iconic elements of its shape. However, the new version of the Cointreau L’Unique decanter incorporates modern French elegance while retaining its essential elements. 

Made with two-thirds of recycled glass, the bottle has been elongated by four millimetres without adding weight to improve pouring. The elongated shape and the more pronounced edges on each of its four corners also make it easier to hold. The sides of the decanter feature raised etchings that pay homage to the stained-glass windows at the moniker’s Angers distillery, adding flair and enhancing grip. 

On its label, a prominent illustration of oranges nestles atop a drawing of Cointreau’s first distillery, where copper stills used to make Cointreau are embossed in copper. The stills are also honoured through the bottle’s copper cap, with a peel design that provides an easier twist-off. The new decanter also highlights a QR code, providing instant access to a dedicated online experience on cointreau.com where users can access nearly 400 drink recipes and cocktail tips.
