Wagyu is without a doubt one of the most costly meats in the world, and there’s a reason for it. Known as one of the world’s most sought-after and exorbitant meats, this Japanese-based beef is now frequently air-flown to Malaysia due to its high-demand.
Even though there are several mouth-watering wagyu eateries in Malaysia, some remain sceptical owing to the government’s lack of Halal certification, particularly among Muslim diners. Fortunately for us, as it is now gaining popularity, there are a slew of restaurants around the Klang Valley that provide not only inexpensive rates but also authentic Halal A5 wagyu beef.
1. Ushiraku
Ushiraku Modern Yakiniku has proven itself as Bangsar’s premier destination for sizzling delights, delivering the best quality of halal-certified Japanese wagyu beef with fashionable flare. Customers are encouraged to try cuts other than ribeyes and chateaubriands; such as short ribs, chuck rolls, and more. From the lean to the luxurious, Ushiraku’s chef selects the best cuts for fantastic platters of diverse beef.

2. Asumo SS15
A Japanese-owned yakiniku restaurant serving halal charcoal-grilled Japanese wagyu, Asumo is run by Chef Kota Furuya; making it his fourth restaurant in the Klang Valley. The restaurant imports whole halal-certified wagyu cattle from Miyazaki and Tokushima prefectures in Japan.
Once the wagyu arrives in the city, a Japanese master butcher with over a decade’s worth of experience carves the highly-marbled meat, dividing it into specific cuts for the customer’s table. The ambiance of the restaurant; from the design, to the lighting and crockery, also influences the taste of the food.
