Jonathan Anderson’s latest collection for Loewe is as simplistic as it is complicated. Confusing, somewhat – but his idea of portraying a woman who has “broken out of her domestic space…like she is kind of freer” unambiguously paraded throughout the collection.

Asymmetrical details, varying silhouettes, and a sea of fabrics ranging from bohemian patterns to checks to colour-blocking pastel hues personified the liberated Loewe woman.

As models wearing jersey dresses, trenches and sweaters catwalked around the minimal runway set in the stark gallery Anderson called his “curated white space”, the impression was that of an art exhibition.

And while not everyone can appreciate art, it seemed like the collection made quite a convincing case for itself, judging from the show’s response.
