From tapestry prints with red roses, romantic pinks and billowing pants to brocade dresses and pearls framing models faces, the medieval vibe was strong throughout.
The past few weeks saw more breakaways from the main Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer schedules. Dior’s Cruise 2018 show paid tribute to their discovery of the Lascaux cave back in the 1940’s with a “Dior Sauvage” set-up in a California desert at Santa Monica, while Louis Vuitton went eastwards towards Kyoto, Japan.
And now Gucci soars high with their extravagant Renaissance show, staged at the Palatina Galery at Pitti Palace in Florence. If you’ve followed the brand rather religiously, one would know Alessandro Michele’s love for the great revival of art, literature of European history was not one he would hide.
Combining elements Alessandro holds ever so dearly to himself, the Palatina Gallery was filled with inevitable cultural appreciation of Gucci girls painted rich in culture. There’s an air of credence about the Gucci woman. They dress only for themselves and no one else, especially with Gucci’s Cruise collection. There’s no doubt the Gucci woman lives to tell an empowering story.
