Girard-Perregaux’s proudest and most popular collection to date, the Laureato, just got even more timeless with a new addition for SIHH 2019.
It is proud to add the Laureato Perpetual Calendar to its family, welcoming a great watchmaking complication while remaining faithful to its contemporary spirit and sporty chic. More impressively, it does so with subtle barely-there positional shifts to keep the dynamic equilibrium of the Laureato trademark.
Carved from a 42mm diametre steel block, the new Laureato Perpetual Calendar is made for daily wear with an ergonomic approach to operation and wearability. It is only 11.84mm thick and stands out with a galvanic blue dial with a Clous de Paris motif, with white indexes enhanced with blue steel appliques for better readability.
Inside, it is powered by a GP01800-0033 automatic movement with tracks hours, minutes, central seconds, day, date, month and nature of the year, ie whether it is a leap year or otherwise. The movement does not deviate far from tradition as far as its finishes are concerned, with a baseplate that’s entirely circular-grained and decorated with Côtes de Genève executed in the Manufacture Girard-Perregaux in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
The kicker: To fit into the watch’s overall fitness of 11.84mm, it is only 6mm high.

The biggest standout is its display mode – to respect the architectural inspiration fo the entire Laureato collection, the Laureato Perpetual Calendar displays its subdials in quite an unusual order. It shows day at 9 o’clock, date at 12 o’clock, month at 5 o’clock and leap-year at 6 o’clock. Symmetry is not the name of the game here. Instead, harmony, as mentioned, is the bigger element, breaking conventional aesthetic order while honing in on Girard-Perregaux’s uniqueness.
Simple to read and easy to adjust, the Laureato Perpetual Calendar is the result of an ergonomic approach to operation and wearability pushed to its uttermost limits.
