2020 marks 70 years since the discovery of the Luminor, a milestone Panerai is celebrating with a suite of three extraordinary new Luminor Marinas.
On the eve of the Second World War, Panerai created the first prototype of the model now known as the Radiomir for the frogman commandos of the First Submarine Group Command of the Royal Italian Navy.
Ten years later, it would discover a new self-luminous substance it named Luminor to replace the radium-based paste of the Radiomir. Made of a hydrogen isotope Tritium, this compound would go on to be patented in 1949 and inspire another historic model now synonymous with Panerai: The Luminor.

Luminor Marina Fibratech
A material previously used in aeronautics, Fibratech is a resilient composite of fully recyclable mineral fibres derived from molten volcanic rock and mineral additives. The case is complemented by a blue sandwich dial and the P.9010 3 days automatic calibre, engineered in Neuchâtel.
Luminor Marina Carbotech
A class all its own, the extraordinary Luminor Marina Carbotech – 44 mm and Luminor Marina – 44mm, with titanium DMLS case and Carbotech™ bezel, embody innovation, endurance, and performance—cornerstones of the Panerai brand.
