In 1981, Japanese fashion brand Onitsuka Tiger launched the “Ultimate” jogging shoe that incorporated advanced technology to deliver high-performance in sports. To commemorate its 40th anniversary this year, the brand is releasing the ULTIMATE 81™ MP model – designed to pay homage to the original while featuring several updates for a modern lifestyle.
Introduced as part of the MonsterPiece series, the ULTIMATE 81™ shoe embodies the brand’s ethos of combining fashion with sports and heritage with innovation, as portrayed by its high-tech built yet understated design.
It is composed of a bilayered midsole – which includes FLYTEFOAM Propel technology for superior cushioning and resilience – uniquely developed to offer both comfort and an on-trend chunky silhouette.
A mesh upper provides breathability, whilst OrthoLite inner sole completes the shoe’s optimal cushioning. This DNA makes it incredibly versatile and simultaneously fit for the streets and appropriate for training or various other activities.
Aside from the ULTIMATE 81, Onitsuka Tiger unveiled a new colourway for its FABRE™ MP model, which is based on the heritage court shoes FABRE™; and the REBILAC RUNNER™ MP model which is based on the brand’s iconic running shoes.
Altogether, the high-tech shoes make up the MonsterPiece series that draws inspiration from the brand’s most iconic performance models, each embracing a minimal design and maximum style. All models in the series come in either a white on white or grey on grey (Sheet Rock/Metropolis) colourway.
The ULTIMATE 81™ MP, FABRE™ MP and REBILAC RUNNER™ MP models will be available for purchase online and select Onitsuka Tiger stores from February 2021 onwards.
