Since its inception, Hendrick’s Gin has been synonymous with the two key ingredients infused in its gins: cucumber and rose. Naturally, it is customary for the premium Scottish gin distillery to celebrate World Cucumber Day on June 14th every year with a thirst-quenching campaign the brand calls “Refreshing Encounters”. 

This year, the celebrations started early with the return of the Cucumber Currency Exchange from 16 to 22 May 2024. For the uninitiated, this unique campaign transforms the humble green fruit into monetary units that customers can exchange for a refreshing Hendrick’s Gin and Tonic. Throughout the week, more than 140 participating bars nationwide will accept cucumbers as currency – no cash or cards necessary!  

Hendrick’s Gin Southeast Asia Brand Ambassador, Charmaine Thio, underscored the cucumber’s esteemed status within the brand, saying, “No other gin tastes like Hendrick’s because no other gin is made like Hendrick’s. The mighty cucumber plays such a pivotal role in making Hendrick’s Gin and its cocktails distinctly unusual, and this is why we are inviting curious-minded individuals to exchange this unconventional green fruit for the most peculiar libation, a Hendrick’s & Tonic.”  

What’s more, consumers can stand to win a Hendrick’s Refreshing Retreat by joining a simple contest from 15 May to 16 June 2024. All you have to do is purchase four Hendrick’s cocktails or a bottle of Hendrick’s Gin from any of the participating bars, take a photo of your receipt, and WhatsApp your details to +60 16-5800622.  

Five pairs of winners will be selected to enjoy a 2D1N stay in the prestigious Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur – complete with a rejuvenating spa session and Hendrick’s cocktail pairing dinner at Bar Trigona (which has been awarded The Best Bar in Malaysia) – worth up to RM7,000.
