The Spring/Summer 2019 season has aimed a spotlight on accessories, especially sunglasses, and Fendi wants to be at the forefront with its new collaboration. The Roman Maison has teamed up with Korean sunglasses and optical brand Gentle Monster for an exclusive GENTLE FENDI capsule collection of bold and unconventional sunglasses – the current trend in that department.
The collection consists of two unisex designs that marry Fendi’s innovative design and top-notch craftsmanship with Gentle Monster’s unpredictable aesthetic.
Gentle Fendi No. 1 features a metal and acetate frame with the same edgy, sporty look highlighted by striking logos seen on Fashion Week runways this season. On the other hand, Gentle Fendi No. 2 features a metal frame and large mirrored lens that exude style with a tinge of cool nonchalance.
To mark its launch, collective Russian artists AES+F – renowned for combining multiple forms of tools, including sculptures, photography, architecture and media technology – have been commissioned to art direct a video on the collection. In the video, models wearing GENTLE FENDI sunglasses are projected in a surreal world with classical architecture and minimal elements, where they meet and interact with alien-like geometrical structures.
Two exclusive events will be held in conjunction with its launch at Gentle Monster stores in Seoul and Beijing respectively on May 7 and on May 14. These events will be celebrated with guests, celebrities, influencers and DJs from around the globe, featuring special animations and exciting setups.
Meanwhile, custom rotating installations will take centre stage at selected FENDI and Gentle Monster boutiques worldwide, including FENDI Roma Palazzo and New York Madison as well as Gentle Monster London and Dubai.
The GENTLE FENDI Capsule Collection will be available from early May 2019 in FENDI and Gentle Monster boutiques as well as selected optic stores worldwide.
