The ultimate Chanel girl, Lily-Rose Depp, continues her ambassador duties as the new muse of the Première Édition Originale watch. One of our favourite pieces, the Première watch was Chanel’s first timepiece, created in 1987 by the Maison’s former artistic visionary Jacques Helleu. It encapsulates the DNA of Chanel while artfully portraying and celebrating its illustrious heritage.
“Beautiful, delicate, chic, classic,” says Lily-Rose. “I think that it’s a watch that only Chanel could make!” The elegant timepiece borrows its design from something that was already iconic, namely the octagonal shape of the stopper of the N°5 fragrance bottle for its case. The meticulously fashioned steel case, cloaked in gleaming 18-karat yellow gold, exudes opulence while the strap, interwoven with leather accents, is a subtle nod to classic Chanel handbags – a hallmark of timeless style.
The timepiece also features a black lacquer dial and the absence of Roman numerals, which truly encapsulates the spirit of freedom and the originality of Chanel. In the latest film campaign directed by Inez and Vinoodh, the French-American actress embodies the essence of sophistication as she graces the Première Édition Originale watch in Gabrielle Chanel’s mythical apartment at 31 rue Cambon in Paris.
