But another thing that draws our attention has to be the fashion choices spotted on the red carpets waround Venice and Toronto as the stars dress to the nines for their premieres – and most importantly the wrist accessories our favourite actors chose to wear. Here are some of the dazzling timepieces we spotted during this film festival season.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson – Cartier Santos de Cartier
Rocking up to the Armani Beauty Passione party, Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s big and bold Cartier Santos de Cartier timepiece was a standout part of his look. The Acqua di Gio ambassador paired the statement watch with a Giorgio Armani three-piece suit (suit blazer, tailored dress pants and a cummerbund!) along with black bowtie and white pocket square.
Dwyane Wade – Cartier Tank Louis Cartier
Supporting his wife Gabrielle Union at the premiere of Riff Raff in Toronto, Dwyane Wade chose an all-black ensemble and accented it with the deep red leather, yellow gold case and red watch face combo of the Cartier Tank Louis Cartier timepiece. The red on black really pops, and was a great choice to match with Gabrielle Union’s Prada dress, without stealing the spotlight.
Daniel Craig – Omega Seamaster 300 and Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M
Seen at Venice for the premiere of his new film Queer, Daniel Craig was seen in two different watches. He started the day first in the Omega Seamaster 300 with a NATO strap bracelet for a photocall earlier in the day, paired with a laidback white shirt and jeans combo.
On the red carpet, Craig switched out the casual look for an off-white suit and opted for the black and steel Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M timepiece to complete his look.
George Clooney – Omega De Ville Hour Vision
The forever classy George Clooney opted for the classic Omega De Ville Hour Vision to accompany him around Venice as he promoted his new movie, Wolfs. The iconic white and silver design alongside the black leather strap made a great pairing with both his black-tie ensemble and daytime casual look earlier in the day.
Brad Pitt – Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref 2526
Speaking of Wolfs, Clooney’s co-star Brad Pitt is not one to lose in a watch-off. Pitt also rocked up to Venice fully loaded in a rare vintage Patek Philippe Calatrava with yellow gold bracelet. The yellow gold peeking out from his blue suit was hard to ignore, and eagle-eyed watch fans will know that this vintage Patek Phillipe is not just flex but also a historical piece, recognized as the first Patek Philippe automatic watch introduced in 1953. This particular reference was in production only up till the 1960s, making Pitt’s timepiece valuable indeed.
Justin Theroux – Tiffany & Co. Union Square
Even though he was all the way in Venice, Justin Theroux kept New York close to him in the form of the Tiffany & Co. Union Square wristwatch. Honouring NYC’s iconic architecture and skyline, the Union Square’s skyscraper-design hands make this watch one you’d enjoy looking at, no matter the time.
Nicholas Hoult – Jaeger-LeCoutre Reverso Tribute Small Seconds
Nicholas Hoult took to the red carpet in a dapper Ralph Lauren suit. And on his wrist, Hoult chose the sunray-brushed black dial with pink gold casing accessory in the form of Jaeger-LeCoutre‘s Reverso Tribute Small Seconds, which made a right match for his formal ensemble.
