Be like the rooster and stay on top of time with these 5 watches from Chopard, Piaget and more.

The Lunar New Year this year celebrates the rooster, the epitome of fidelity and punctuality. And what better way to live up to that punctuality than with beautiful watches sporting said zodiac as a reminder each time you glance at your wrist.

Here are 5 from top watchmakers we have our eyes on this CNY.

Ulysse Nardin

Ulysse Nardin Classico Year of the Rooster

Ulysse Nardin greets the new year with a majestic rooster with blue feathers outlined in gold, painted by means of centuries-old technique called  champlevé enamel where metallic oxides are layered onto a copper-coloured metallic dial. The dial itself is the product of painstaking chiseling before the carved cells are repeatedly fired and repainted to achieve the desired depth and texture. It is housed in 18-karat rose gold and is limited to only 88 pieces. W

Piaget Altiplano Year of the Rooster

Master enameler Anita Porchet has given Piaget a gray, white and black rooster this CNY, hand-painted in Grand Feu cloisonné enamel onto a clean mother-of-pearl background dial. Only 38 of this ultra-thin limited editions are made, each powered by the Piaget 430-P manual-wind movement and housed in an 18-karat white gold case, set with diamonds. W

Chopard L.U.C XP Urushi Year of the Rooster

Chopard once again partners with Yamada Heiando to paint its rooster Urushi-style onto its 88-piece limited edition Year of the Rooster watch, where lacquer from the Urushi tree is used to detail the blue, gold and orange rooster in vivid colour on a mother-of-pearl dial. This ultra-thin movement consists of the L.U.C 96.17-L self-winding movement with micro-rotor powers and is equipped with two barrels, offering 65 hours of power reserve. W

Vacheron Constantin

Vacheron Constantin Métiers d’Art ‘Legend of the Chinese Zodiac’

Not limiting itself to just one, Vacheron Constantin unveils two versions of its ‘Legend of the Chinese Zodiac’ watches this year, both featuring the rooster; one in 18-karat white gold against a blue Grand Feu enamel dial and the other in 18-karat rose gold against a bronze Grand Feu enamel dial. Beautiful carvings of the bird aside, what stands the watches out are the hands-free feature where the time is displayed in 4 apertures at the corners of the watch. Jaquet Droz

Jaquet Droz Petite Heure Minute Year of the Rooster

Also premiering two versions is Jaquet Droz, one carved in 18-karat gold and the other, painted on for a splash of colour. Each comes in two versions of its own – encrusted with diamonds in the bezel and without –  and is limited to only 28 pieces. W
