You’ve seen it all over social media: the slow motion 360-degree karate kicks – some impressive, some could use a tip or two from ‘Ip man’ Donnie Yen – unscrewing a bottle cap neatly (or not) off its tip.

Yes, we’re talking about the latest viral challenge to take over everyone’s Instagram feed, the Bottle Cap Challenge. Though it has allegedly been a stunt among the martial arts community for quite some time now, the trend picked up after former World Taekwondo Champion Farabi Davletchin posted his take (see above), tagging Jason Statham and Jackie Chan in the process.

From then on, the likes of John Mayer, Mariah Carey and Kendall Jenner are a few off the top of our list to join the bandwagon. But the coolest bottle cap challenge video we have seen yet isn’t from someone you might recognise. In fact, the video doesn’t even show someone, but something.

Scroll on through our compilation of the best celebrity #bottlecapchallenge posts to see what we mean.

Jason Statham

This action-thriller British actor can do no wrong at kicking a-nything.

Conor McGregor

Excellent job @jasonstatham, I tip my cap to you. I’ll take it from here. I nominate Floyd Mayweather. @properwhiskey

A real MMA fighter does it with a bottle in hand. You know, to celebrate after.

Donnie Yen

There’s a reason he got the role of ‘Ip Man’ – Donnie Yen is a true master of martial arts and he’s proven it yet again, blindfolded to boot.

John Mayer

First @erlsn.acr did it. Then @blessedmma followed, and challenged me. I now challenge @jasonstatham. #bottlecapchallenge

John has got a really deft kick, but we live for that stare at the end.

Ellie Goulding

Did you see that spin? There’s something in the way you move, something in the way you do it, Ellie.

Justin Bieber

I nominate Tom cruise and Hailey Bieber

Justin didn’t have to check his cap twice, we’ve never seen a one stay in place during a 360-degree spin as it did in this video.

Hailey Bieber

ok challenge accepted… I nominate @kendalljenner and @justineskye 🍾🍾

A post shared by Hailey Rhode Bieber (@haileybieber) on

Hailey knew a nomination was coming her way (notice the similar background in hubby Bieber’s post), but she totally upped the game when she did the challenge off an ATV. You show the guys how to do it, girl!

Kendall Jenner

you asked for it @haileybieber …

Taking cue from BFF Hailey Bieber, Kendall knocked off a bottle cap with her bare feet while riding a jet ski on vacation in Greece.

Ryan Reynolds

Trust funny man and marketing maestro Ryan Reynolds to use the challenge to promote his brand, Aviator gin. No spoilers here, but watch it until the end for one more reason to love the Deadpool actor.

Shaquille O’Neal

Here is proof that just because you’re one of the greatest players in NBA history, it doesn’t mean you’ll be all that great at martial arts. Shaq is still cool, though.

DJ Marshmello

Yes, he failed the challenge (no thanks to staying true to his characteristic look) but at least he’s keeping it real.

Mariah Carey

Challenge accepted! #bottlecapchallenge

Forget kicks, Mariah Carey knows her true power lies in her vocal chords, after all.

And now for the video you’ve been waiting for…behold: the wing of a $1.5 million-dollar purple McLaren uncorking a glow-in-the-dark bottle of Dom Perignon courtesy of car enthusiast Iskander Utebayev.
