Since 1968, Van Cleef & Arpels has charmed jewellery enthusiasts with a collection bearing a now-iconic four-leaf clover motif: the Alhambra collection. In 2006, the jeweller expanded on the mystical range with the launch of the Magic Alhambra.
“To be lucky, you have to believe in luck,” as Jacques Arpels – founder Estelle Arpels’ nephew – used to say. Well, count your lucky clovers (see what we did there) as this year, the Maison has added four new creations to one of its most symbolic collections to date.
Launching in four unique long necklace designs, the latest pieces are instantly recognisable by their generous, emblematic lucky motifs embellished in the most precious materials.
A Chalcedony piece combines its subtle bluish hues with previous white gold, while another gray mother-of-pearl charm complements its iridescent overtones with rose gold to play on a warmer palette. The third necklace appears in blue agate, harking back to 1989 when it first appeared in a collection. Contrasted with yellow gold, it recalls the blue glow of twilight – evoking the luminosity between daylight and darkness.
The final long necklace is crafted in guilloché yellow gold, featuring intricate lines that reflect the light for a hypnotic gaze. Accompanying this piece is a matching new Vintage Alhambra ring in guilloche yellow gold, bearing the same sun-shaped pattern to create a dazzling circulation of light on the hand.
True to the Maison’s tradition of transformative pieces, the latest Magic Alhambra necklaces can be worn in different ways: as a long or semi-long necklace, or a short one by doubling the chain. They can also be worn around the wrist as bracelets or draped around the back for different occasions.
