The Hollywood music industry is set to experience a major shakeup throughout 2024, as Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter and Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department have already dominated the charts in the first half of the year. And with upcoming releases from the likes of Billie Eilish and Kings of Leon on the horizon, fans can look forward to some exciting hits to add to their playlists for the remainder of the year.
From Ariana Grande’s soap opera “divorce album” to Zayn’s long-awaited fourth studio album, here’s what to expect from the world’s top artists and their upcoming albums.
Ariana Grande
Eternal Sunshine is Ariana Grande’s seventh album, arriving after the success of 2020’s Positions. The album is expected to delve into her personal post-divorce journey, with lyrics like “How can I tell if I’m in the right relationship? / Aren’t you really supposed to know that sh*t?.” Drawing inspiration from ’90s Madonna and incorporating elements of bedroom-pop acoustic guitar, this album would definitely be worth a listen.
Dua Lipa
Dua Lipa’s upcoming third studio album is titled Radical Optimism and is scheduled for an early May release. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Dua Lipa shared that the album will feature 11 tracks, paying homage to UK rave culture with a unique blend of psychedelic-pop-infused sounds. “This record feels a bit more raw. I want to capture the essence of youth and freedom,” she said.
Billie Eilish
Billie Eilish, a two-time Oscar winner, has officially announced that her third album, Hit Me Hard And Soft, is set to drop in May 2024. This revelation follows her hit single What Was I Made For, which reached an impressive 200 million streams. During a surprise performance at Coachella alongside Lana Del Rey, she gave fans a sneak peek of three tracks from the upcoming album, which will feature a total of 10 songs.
Zayn
Zayn Malik is set to launch his brand new album in the first six months of 2024. The last time we heard from this former One Direction member was in 2021 when he released Nobody Is Listening. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Zayn mentioned that this upcoming album will offer a unique perspective on his personal struggles and fears. The album will also feature Pakistani group, Aur.
Kings of Leon
Kings of Leon’s upcoming album will be titled Can We Please Have Fun. To add to the excitement, Kid Harpoon, who has previously worked with Harry Styles and Florence and the Machine, will produce the record. One of the tracklists, Mustang, reintroduces the band’s unique sound from their successful 2004 album, Aha Shake Heartbreak.
