Swarovski has unveiled its latest ‘Metamorphosis’ campaign, shot by notable fashion photographer Steven Meisel. According to the release, the campaign was designed to celebrate the transforming power of crystals as well as joyous self-expression. Featuring a succession of bizarre creatures representing Swarovski‘s Florere, Idyllia, Gema, Dextera, and Millenia jewellery families, which were also reinvented as tropical flora and wildlife by Pat McGrath’s makeup artistry.
Meisel successfully brings Swarovski’s unique jewellery creations to life in four individual portraits encapsulating the personalities of the Butterfly, Parrot, Pineapple, and Turtle for this campaign, each figure a monument to content luxury and the beauty of nature itself.
The campaign is also inspired by Swarovski’s Austrian origins, particularly the magnificent garden chambers established by Empress Maria-Theresa at Vienna’s Schönbrunn Palace in the eighteenth century.
“Maria-Theresa’s garden rooms are populated from her dreams. They are fantastical spaces painted with murals of exotic flora and fauna from around the globe that would never naturally share the same habitat. In the same way, I wanted to create an enchanted crystal garden that does not exist in nature but still brings the same joy.” explained Giovanna Engelbert, Swarovski Creative Director.
