The glitz, the glamour, and the golden statuettes – Hollywood’s biggest night AKA the 2025 Oscars delivered yet another unforgettable celebration of cinema. The 97th Academy Awards, hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien at the legendary Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, honoured 2024’s most outstanding films, performances, and creative achievements.
This year, indie film Anora dominated the night, winning five of its six nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay. The film’s poignant portrayal of sex workers resonated deeply, with both director Sean Baker and lead actress Mikey Madison paying tribute to the community in their acceptance speeches.
Beyond Anora’s sweeping success, the night was marked by historic firsts and powerful messages. Paul Tazewell of Wicked became the first African American man to win Best Costume Design, while Zoe Saldana won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Emilia Pérez, making her the first American of Dominican origin to win an Oscar.
The Best Documentary Feature winner, No Other Land, delivered one of the most emotional moments of the evening, as filmmakers Basel Adra and Yuval Abraham used their speech to call attention to the ongoing struggles in Palestine.
Meanwhile, Adrien Brody made history with the longest-ever Oscar speech, speaking for five minutes and forty seconds as he accepted the Best Actor award for The Brutalist, breaking Greer Garson’s 1943 record.

Now that the golden statuettes have been handed out, here’s a full list of the 2025 Oscar winners, celebrating the films and performances that captivated audiences and critics alike.
