S amsonite Malaysia has once again underscored its commitment to sustainability with the conclusion of its annual Samsonite Luggage Trade-In campaign. The initiative, which ran from 16 May to 13 July 2025, invited travellers to exchange their pre-loved luggage – regardless of brand, condition, or size – for an upgrade to Samsonite’s latest collections.
But this campaign has always been about more than just trading up. It highlights the brand’s wider mission to promote circular practices, recycle responsibly, and extend the lifecycle of travel essentials that often end up in landfills.
Turning old luggage into new possibilities

This year, Samsonite partnered with sustainability advocates Fuze Ecoteer to creatively repurpose collected luggage. Units deemed unusable were responsibly recycled or disposed of, while select components found a new purpose as exclusive artisan coasters crafted from 100% recycled plastic.
These coasters – each a functional keepsake with a story – will be available for redemption from 15 August 2025. Customers who participated in the trade-in need only present their receipt at selected Samsonite stores to claim theirs. Those who missed out on trading in aren’t left behind either: any purchase made at participating stores will also entitle shoppers to one of the upcycled coasters, furthering the brand’s sustainable journey.
The campaign also had an environmental impact beyond recycling. For every trade-in transaction, Samsonite pledged RM10 to WWF-Malaysia. This year, a total of RM62,810 was raised, which will be channeled directly to WWF-Malaysia’s conservation efforts to protect and preserve the country’s natural environment.
Through this initiative, Samsonite is proving that luxury travel gear can be aligned with meaningful environmental action.
Collections designed for conscious travellers

At the heart of this year’s campaign were two of Samsonite’s most innovative collections – the Nuon™ and the Octolite Neo.
The Nuon™ collection boasts a sleek, contemporary design crafted from lightweight polycarbonate for durability and ease of travel. Its interior lining is made using Recyclex™ materials, offering the perfect balance of form and function for today’s modern, sustainability-conscious traveller.
Meanwhile, the Octolite Neo collection is engineered with maximum packing capacity in mind. Its zipper teeth and tape are made from 95% recycled PET plastic, making it not just a practical choice for long journeys but also a conscious one.

The Samsonite Luggage Trade-In campaign is not only a seasonal promotion; it also reflects a growing shift in how travellers view their gear. By recycling old luggage, supporting environmental causes, and choosing collections made with sustainable materials, customers are taking an active role in shaping a greener future for travel.
