On 15 July 2025, the company marked the beginning of its next bold chapter, breaking ground on a highly anticipated US$8 billion resort and entertainment expansion adjacent to Marina Bay Sands. This new expansion signals the brand’s continued confidence in Singapore and its commitment to long-term investment in the region.

“With its opening in 2010, our founder Sheldon G. Adelson embarked on a journey that changed the face of tourism in Singapore and the region,” said Robert Goldstein, Chairman and CEO of Las Vegas Sands. “Fifteen years later, we are proud to carry Mr. Adelson’s legacy forward with this groundbreaking ceremony. We fully intend to deliver a development that will set a new global benchmark for integrated resorts.”
A groundbreaking celebration of vision and legacy
Officiated by Singapore’s Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong, alongside Las Vegas Sands co-founder Dr Miriam Adelson, the ceremony was a momentous occasion attended by over 220 guests.
Dignitaries included Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations Grace Fu, Las Vegas Sands Chairman and CEO Robert Goldstein, President and COO Patrick Dumont, and other esteemed partners.
Together, they celebrated not only a new architectural icon in the making but also a renewed vision for Singapore as a global hub for hospitality, entertainment, and cultural exchange.

The evening event unfolded with the same level of grandeur that has become synonymous with Marina Bay Sands. Guests were treated to a curated culinary experience by the property’s signature restaurants, including a preview of the upcoming Cantonese restaurant, Jin Ting Wan.
The night featured performances by Singaporean electro-pop artist Jasmine Sokko and Canadian multi-instrumentalist Henry Lau, setting the tone for an evening that paid tribute to creativity and innovation.

In a symbolic gesture, the entirety of Marina Bay Sands was bathed in golden hues, from its three hotel towers to the SkyPark and Expo & Convention Centre. This illuminated tribute honoured both the groundbreaking milestone and Singapore’s SG60 celebrations.
Adding a deeper emotional dimension to the occasion was the premiere of “Nothing Comes by Chance,” a cinematic tribute directed by Kirsten Tan. Commissioned by Marina Bay Sands, the short film reflects on Singapore’s resilience, ambition, and forward-looking spirit.
Featuring celebrated Singaporean figures like Tan Kheng Hua, Pierre Png, Quah Zheng Wen and Jasmine Sokko, the film mirrors Marina Bay Sands’ journey and its symbiotic relationship with the nation’s progress.

What to expect: Design, experiences, and engineering feats
According to Paul Town, COO of Marina Bay Sands, the upcoming development is not just about physical expansion but the elevation of experience.
“We’re building more than a new tower. We’re crafting the next generation of hospitality and entertainment – something truly remarkable. Our goal is to offer transformative experiences, set new standards in guest service, and reaffirm Singapore’s position as the premier destination for luxury, culture, and business.”

Once completed, the new development is set to raise the benchmark in global luxury tourism. The 55-storey hotel tower will house 570 exquisitely designed suites, many of which will offer panoramic views of the Marina Bay and Singapore Strait.
Designed by acclaimed firm Safdie Architects – the same visionary minds behind Marina Bay Sands – the architecture features twin wings that curve outward as they ascend, forming a striking silhouette on the skyline.
At the crown of this soaring structure will be the 76,000-square-foot Skyloop, a pioneering rooftop experience that blends public and private spaces across multiple levels. Defined by its elliptical volumes interweaving in opposing directions, the Skyloop will host rooftop gardens, observatories, fine-dining destinations, private cabanas, and wellness terraces designed for yoga, events, and quiet reflection.

Inside, guests can expect a curated mix of experiences that define next-level hospitality: holistic spa and wellness zones, luxury retail boutiques, exclusive gaming spaces, and approximately 200,000 square feet of MICE facilities for large-scale conferences and business events.
Complementing the upcoming ultra-luxury destination is a state-of-the-art 15,000-seat arena by global design firm Populous, famed for The O2 Arena in London and the Las Vegas Sphere.
Located beside the new tower, it’s set to redefine Asia’s live entertainment with world-class acoustics, clear sightlines, and versatile staging for major international acts. Plus, its direct integration with Marina Bay Sands and Bayfront MRT station ensures seamless access for both locals and tourists.

Investing in sustainability, innovation and Singapore’s future
Las Vegas Sands’ new development is not just about visual impact or luxury. It embodies the company’s forward-thinking values around sustainability, community impact, and economic contribution.
Since its inception, Marina Bay Sands has generated employment for over 12,000 team members and continues to support local small and medium-sized enterprises, with 92% of procurement spent locally in 2024.
This latest project, aligned with Sands’ global sustainability program Sands ECO360, will integrate biophilic architecture, high-performance glazing, and self-shading façades to reduce solar heat transfer and improve energy efficiency. Suites will include private terraces and green spaces, while native Southeast Asian flora will be incorporated throughout the design.

Construction best practices are being implemented, including the use of low-carbon concrete, recycled steel, and an extensive waste management strategy to divert 75% of construction waste from landfills. The project’s ambitions are matched by its numbers. With this development, Las Vegas Sands will have invested over US$15 billion in Singapore since 2010.
“We are proud of the transformative impact that Marina Bay Sands has had and are highly optimistic about building on this strong foundation,” said Patrick Dumont. “Our new development will raise the bar and redefine the ultra-luxury hospitality realm on a global scale, fuelling further growth of high-value tourism.”

As Singapore continues to strengthen its position as a global hub for innovation and culture, Las Vegas Sands’ new development promises not only to redefine the skyline but also to drive long-term economic growth.
More than an expansion, it is a bold statement of confidence in Singapore’s future as a city of ideas, ambition, and luxury. Tentatively set to open in 2030, the landmark project underscores Las Vegas Sands’ ability to shape more than buildings – it is shaping a legacy.
