The annual Good Vibes Festival is back, returning to its much-loved location in Genting Highlands. Despite last year’s controversy surrounding The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, the festival promises to bring back “good vibes” to music lovers and festival-goers alike with an exciting lineup of musical artists.
“This time around, our aim is clear: to rebuild and let everyone know that Good Vibes Festival is here to stay. Many of the artists that didn’t get to perform last year will get another chance on the stage this year,” expressed Wan Alman, Director of Entertainment at Future Sound Asia. “We’re hoping to move forward and are excited to introduce everyone to our brand-new venue in Genting Highlands. I hope everyone is excited to make new memories and relive all the good times we had.”
The festival will take place over the course of two days on July 20 and 21 at the Resorts World Awana, specifically at the Genting Highlands Premium Outlets (GHPO) bus parking located at the mid-hill of Genting Highlands, Pahang.
The stellar line-up
Peggy Gou
Famed for her dynamic fusion of techno, disco, house and dance mixes, Germany-based South Korean DJ and singer Peggy Gou announced that she’ll be performing at the festival as part of her Asia tour. The multifaceted artist is well-known for her hit songs like It Goes Like Nanana and Starry Night.
Joji
For the second time, Japanese singer-songwriter Joji will be returning to the festival as one of the headliners. The 30-year-old hitmaker is famed for his somber yet hauntingly beautiful chart-toppers like Glimpse of Us and SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK.
Russ
Atlanta-based rapper Russ, who most recently dropped his latest studio album, Santiago, last year, will be on stage this year as well. He will most likely be performing his hottest tracks such as Zoo and Shake the Snow Globe.
J Balvin
Fresh off his stint at Coachella, Colombian singer J Balvin will be making his Malaysian debut on the stage. Expect club bops like LACANCIÓN and MiGente.
Other notable international acts who are part of this year’s lineup include American singer Alec Benjamin who brings his captivating storytelling to the stage. Meanwhile, Canadian indie-pop quartet Peach Pit promises their signature narratives to the stage with breezy guitar melodies and quirky anthems. British singer Henry Moodie, who’s known for his single, drunk text, will also make his appearance on stage.
Additionally, fans of South Korean music should look forward to rapper and actress BIBI’s cheeky stage presence and witty rap lyrics, as well as legendary hip hop artists Tiger JK and his wife Yoon Mi-rae who are set to greet the crowd with what Korean hip-hop and R&B are all about.
A slew of local artists are on the joint to keep the rhythm going all night, from the likes of Spooky Wet Dreams, Saint Kylo, Lost Spaces, DAALIAH, Talitha, FORCEPARKBOIS and more.
