Decked out in diamonds and vibrant gemstones, Breguet offers a stunning interpretation of the beauty of the seas with its new Marine Haute Joaillerie Poseidonia.
Breguet is known as one of the oldest watchmakers in the world, creating timepieces that reflect its traditions since its inception in 1775. Its high jewellery pieces, though splendid and detailed, usually continue to carry more classic styles – until now. Breguet found inspiration from the sea and introduced a new addition to its Marine collection, the striking and undeniably beautiful Marine Haute Joaillerie 9509 Poseidonia.
At first glance, you’ll see Breguet’s depiction of an aquatic plant native to the Mediterranean, Posidonia oceanica, through an iridescent Tahitian mother-of-pearl dial invisibly set with 85 gemstones that form the ripple of the plant’s elegant form. Depending on the light, the dial can appear deeply coloured or take on a more silvery glint. This setting continues on the bezel, caseband, lugs of the strap, and the clasp of the buckle.
This sumptuous timepiece houses an extra-thin self-winding manufacture movement, the calibre 591C – revealed on the transparent sapphire caseback. Its bridges are engine-turned by hand with the Marine motif – inspired by the deck of a ship. On the bevel of the white-gold rotor, the sparkling diamond border contrasts with the intensity of the Tahitian mother-of-pearl. Engraved on the rim of the caseback in white gold are the words Horloger de la Marine, which means ‘Watchmaker to the Navy’. This refers to the title of Chronometer-maker to the French Royal Navy bestowed upon Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1815.
The Marine Haute Joaillerie Poseidonia is available in four variations, each distinguished by the combination of gemstones. The diamond version is set only with diamonds to create an elegant and icy look, while the emerald, ruby, and sapphire models are each set with a myriad of gems – such as amethysts and tsavorites – to create a rainbow-hued, kaleidoscopic detail that makes this watch a real standout.
Delicate, gold Breguet hands indicate the hours and minutes. The tip of the second hand reveals the letter B of the maritime code of signals – a feature unique to the Marine collection. The traditional baguette-set bezel facilitates reading: the distinct triangular diamonds mark each of the 12 hours. The sides of the white-gold case and the crown are elegantly fluted, alternating between polished white-gold and baguette-cut diamonds. Topping the crown is a briolette-cut diamond, claw set with six baguette-cut diamonds. The crown protection is set entirely invisibly with 14 baguette-cut diamonds.
The Breguet Marine Haute Joaillerie Poseidonia bears a recommended retail pricetag of RM1,013,800. Discover the variations of this lavish, oceanic collection on the official Breguet website here.
