Like the packaging, the three shades are an interpretation of art – paying homage to the beautiful roses of French artist Yves Klein.
Following the launch of Hermès Beauty and its line of colourful lipsticks in March, the new designer beauty brand has released the next thing to feast our eyes on: another collection of Rouge Hermès limited-edition lipsticks! Arriving as part of its Autumn/Winter 2020 launch, the collection consists of three shades with the same creamy, luscious formula as its maiden range.
Each lipstick bullet is encased in a unique tri-colour tube packaging, designed by veteran shoe and jewellery designer Pierre Hardy and inspired by the works of different fine artists. To be specific, Hardy referenced the silent perspectives of Charles Sheeler; the serenity of the still life and domestic landscapes by John Register and Arduino Cantafora; and the abstract compositions of Jean Helion.
The resulting colour combinations evoke the transition from the light hues of autumn to the darker tones of winter. There’s a minty green contrasted with a navy blue; a rosebud pink juxtaposing a deep teal; and a sky blue colour-blocked with an earthy brown.
Commenting on the design of the lipsticks, Hardy said: “I thought, let’s act as though nothing else existed. I will try to create the quintessence of an object that is feminine, pure, simple. One that is immediately desirable but will stand the test of time, and that can convey the Hermès style: luxury and sobriety.”
Like the packaging, the three shades are an interpretation of art – paying homage to the beautiful roses of French artist Yves Klein. Rose Ombre offers a subtle, muted pink with a shade that the house describes as ‘‘rosewood and waxed palisander’’ with a satin finish. Rose Pommette presents a more vibrant, light pink, also in a satin finish. Lastly, the Rose Nuit version runs a deeper matte pink with muted blue undertones.
The limited-edition Hermès Beauty Autumn/Winter lipsticks are available from October 2020 at selected Hermès stores in Malaysia.
