For Malaysians, Langkawi is often one of the first destinations that comes to mind when the urge for an island escape strikes. As the largest island in its archipelago, it offers a little of everything: centuries-old rainforests, powder-soft beaches, serene natural attractions, and a duty-free status that has long made it a favourite among holidaymakers.
In the latest edition of #FirstClasseGoesTo, we headed to the island paradise with Aina Syahirah, co-founder of Malaysian footwear label KULET. Much like the brand she has built, Aina carries herself with an understated elegance that feels contemporary and timeless – qualities that lend refinement to our three-day getaway, accompanied by TUMI’s Spring 2026 collection and its spirit of a Mediterranean Escape.

Day 1
An early morning flight from Kuala Lumpur brought us to Langkawi before 10am, where sunny skies and balmy air welcomed us upon arrival. Wasting no time, we headed to Pantai Cenang for brunch, easing into island mode with good food and verdant surroundings.

After a hearty meal, we checked into The St Regis Langkawi – our home for the next two nights. Nestled along a private stretch of beach with sweeping views of the Andaman Sea, the resort immediately set the tone for a slower, more indulgent pace of life.
Unpacking in the suite was a breeze, thanks to TUMI’s Carry-On Packing Cube Set, which kept outfits and essentials neatly organised inside Aina’s 19 Degree luggage. It was a small detail that made a noticeable difference, especially on a trip punctuated by multiple outfit changes and diverse locations. With the afternoon still ahead of us, our next stop brought us to one of Langkawi’s long-standing cultural gems: Atma Alam Batik. The space offered an insightful look into the artistry behind traditional Malaysian batik-making, from hand-drawn motifs to intricate block-printing techniques. Leaning fully into the experience, we tried our hand at batik painting ourselves – leaving with imperfect but deeply personal keepsakes from the day.
Later, we continued the trail with a visit to Langkawi’s sprawling paddy fields, where sweeping greenery and traditional kampung homes painted a portrait of the island’s quieter side. Removed from the bustle of tourist hotspots, the landscape carried a sense of stillness that immersed us in the lifestyle of the humble countryside.

We were rewarded with this jaw-dropping sunset vista while enjoying our first dinner in Langkawi.
As evening approached, we made our way to the beach just in time to catch the sun shift into dreamy shades of vivid purple and pink. Complete with the rhythmic hush of waves and the soft give of sand beneath our feet, the atmosphere felt surreally cinematic.
The evening concluded with dinner at a beachfront restaurant, where the gentle sea breeze and rustic interiors created the perfect setting for our first night on the island. Between lighthearted conversations, fresh coconuts, and fuss-free dishes, it was the kind of relaxed evening that reminded us why island getaways always feel so restorative.
Day 2
Our second morning began with a leisurely buffet breakfast spread at L’Orangerie before setting off for one of Langkawi’s most famous attractions: the SkyBridge Cable Car.
For the day’s excursion, Aina carried the Voyageur Q Tote in Oat – roomy enough for travel essentials yet understated enough to pair effortlessly with the relaxed island wardrobe she wore throughout the trip. Suspended high above ancient rainforests and dramatic cliffs, the ride offered unparalleled bird’s eye views of the island. Despite the misty skies, the ascent itself was thrilling, making us appreciate Langkawi’s natural beauty from a completely different perspective.
After spending the morning exploring the area and taking in the scenery, the afternoon was deliberately left open. We stopped by a café for light refreshments and a little people-watching before retreating to the familiar comforts of the resort. Some of us disappeared to our rooms to unwind, while others wandered around the property or took a moment to enjoy the calmness of the sea.

Kayuputi offered an indulgent six-course menu incorporating local ingredients and flavours with finesse.
As dusk settled in, we dressed up for dinner at Kayuputi, The St. Regis Langkawi’s iconic overwater fine dining restaurant. Designed by acclaimed architect Bill Bensley, the space is known for its striking interiors, curated antiques, and uninterrupted ocean views. Over the course of a thoughtfully executed six-course dinner, refined flavours and attentive service reaffirmed why Kayuputi has become a dining destination in its own right.
Against the backdrop of crashing waves and shimmering lights on the horizon, dinner unfolded at an unhurried pace, allowing conversations to stretch long into the night and becoming one of the most memorable moments of the trip.
Day 3
Like all good getaways, our final morning arrived far too quickly.
After breakfast at the hotel, we spent the last hour soaking in the final moments of island life before checking out and heading to the airport. Fortunately, packing for the journey home was smooth and efficient thanks to the thoughtful functionality of the 19 Degree luggage. With its expandable compartments and streamlined front-access design, fitting in souvenirs, outfits, and travel essentials was surprisingly effortless.
