Who says all women at the gym should look a certain way? In doing its part to promote inclusivity and body positivity, Adidas has unveiled its Empowered in Motion initiative, aimed at encouraging women in Southeast Asia to break through societal barriers and embrace their fitness journeys.
Celebrating the diverse stories of women that are redefining fitness while staying true to their cultural values, this campaign inspires all to confidently pursue their health goals – particularly in strength training.
Kelly Lim, Senior Manager of Brand Activation at Adidas Malaysia, highlights the brand’s commitment to inclusivity, saying, “Our goal is to make the gym a welcoming space for all, especially women, regardless of background or fitness level. By making strength training more inclusive, we can help more people start their fitness journeys and inspire others to prioritise their health.”
A cornerstone of the initiative is Adidas’ expanded Inclusive Training Apparel line, designed to accommodate various comfort and style preferences. At the forefront of this range is the Own the Run (OTR) 3-Stripes Hijab, a gamechanger in modest activewear. Made from lightweight, soft materials, this hijab features Adidas’ AEROREADY moisture-wicking technology to keep wearers dry during intense workouts. Its adjustable fit offers both comfort and freedom of movement, empowering women to train with confidence.
Another important gear when it comes to strength training is footwear, which should provide stability and functionality without sacrificing comfort. Cue the new Adidas Dropset 3, engineered for weight-based exercises, checking all three boxes plus durability.
The shoes’ key features include a low midsole (6mm drop height) to provide a flat, grounded base and precise alignment during weightlifting; alongside the TRAXION® rubber outsole that ensures superior grip and reduces slipping to keep athletes securely planted. Additionally, it has an integrated airflow window that’s paired with knitted mesh uppers to enhance ventilation and keep feet cool during rigorous workouts.
The Dropset 3 and the Inclusive Training Apparel range are now available at select Adidas retail stores, online at adidas.com.my, and via the Adidas app.
To bring the Empowered in Motion initiative to life, Adidas has partnered with CLUBALOHA to host Adidas Training: Empowered in Motion, a month-long series of community strength training classes. Led by women trainers, these sessions are open to women of all fitness levels and emphasise body positivity and holistic strength. (Note: we gave the class a go and can attest that it is beginner-friendly with weights and reps that can be tailored to your athletic ability – but expect a healthy challenge!)
“CLUBALOHA’s dedication to creating safe and inclusive spaces aligns perfectly with our mission. We’re proud to support a partner that uplifts the local fitness community and empowers women,” Lim shared on the collaboration.
The classes, held every Thursday (5PM – 6PM) and Saturday (4PM – 5PM) in November, blend bodyweight exercises with free weights to foster strength and confidence. Spots are limited, so interested participants can secure their place here.
