What is the annual Academy Museum Gala?
If you’re not familiar with the Academy Museum Gala, you can think of it as a sort of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ version of the Met Gala, sans dress theme. In the same vein, the Academy Museum Gala is a fundraising event, with proceeds going to the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures and their efforts in preserving the history and legacy of American cinema.
At the same time, the Gala selects honourees to celebrate during the event; this year sees Paul Mescal, Rita Moreno, and Quentin Tarantino as the chosen few. This is only its fourth year but already it’s seen as a prime event for stars to strut their stunning red carpet looks.
Celebrating old Hollywood style
Though there isn’t a theme for the Academy Museum Gala, this year’s attendees seem to have gravitated towards old Hollywood glamour as the style vibe, bringing out dresses and gowns reminiscent of the elegance and sophistication of the time (and giving us a hard time choosing our favourite looks).
Almost all the attendees were dressed to the nines, but these are some of those that made the top spots.
