Golden Globes 2020: Who wore what on the red carpet

Golden Globes 2020 red carpet

Not one, but two Golden Globes attendees wore a Malaysian designer’s creation on the red carpet. Care to guess who?

As the first major awards show of the decade, the 77th Golden Globes has set a bold precedence for red carpet fashion.

Some looks received nods of approval, while others earned gasps (of admiration or horror – depending on who you ask). We even spotted a few that will likely reappear as memes on our social media feeds. But for the most part, it was an evening decked with desirable haute couture gowns, lavish jewellery and dapper suits at Los Angeles’ Beverly Hilton, where this year’s edition was held.

From Billy Porter’s custom-made feathered suit by Alex Vinash to Sofia Carson’s ethereal pink Giambattista Valli number, here are the most outstanding red carpet fashion moments at the 2020 Golden Globes. (P.S. You may or may not recognise a Malaysian designer’s creation in the list!)

"Knives Out" actress Ana de Armas complemented her dazzling Ralph & Russo number with equally sparkling Tiffany & Co jewellery.

Kirsten Dunst, who stars in "On Becoming A God In Central Florida", graced the red carpet in a mesmerising Rodarte gown.

Reese Witherspoon stunned in a one-shouldered Roland Mouret gown and Tiffany & Co. jewellery.

Ansel Elgort pulled a surprise - not for his velvet Tom Ford suit - but for wearing glitter eyeshadow, nail polish and a Tiffany & Co. butterfly brooch to complement it.

Zoey Deutch, who stars in "Politician", brought the sunshine to the red carpet in a long-sleeved Fendi dress.

Margot Robbie looked like an absolute "Bombshell" in this Chanel getup.

Lucy Boynton donned a metallic silver Louis Vuitton dress.

Trust Scarlett Johansson to stun in red, as she did in this floor-sweeping Vera Wang dress.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge dressed to win in a sparkly Ralph & Russo suit - and win she did for her leading role in Fleabag.

Billy Porter geared up in a custom-made feather suit by Alex Vinash, topped with Tiffany & Co. jewellery.

"The Politician" star and executive producer Gwyneth Paltrow went the sheer route with this Fendi frock.

Jennifer Lopez 'Hustled' her way on to the red carpet in a Valentino frock with an oversized bow.

"Booksmart" star Beanie Feldstein dazzled in an all-navy Oscar de la Renta gown.

Besides Karen Pittman, "Once Upon A Time" star Ginnifer Goodwin also opted to wear a Khoon Hooi design to the Awards this year.

"The Morning Show" actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw wore a gold sequinned Armani dress.

Chris Evans suited up in an Isaia corduroy tuxedo, looking as fine as he did in "Knives Out" - or better.

"Marriage Story" star Laura Dern took home an award for the Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture decked in a Saint Laurent dress.

Golden Globes newcomer Joey King opted for a white Iris van Herpen dress.

Helen Mirren was the picture of aging with grace in this modest Dior Haute Couture number.
