Often dubbed as the Las Vegas of Asia, Macau has more to offer than just its grand casinos and luxurious resorts, there are historic sites like The Ruins of Saint Paul and Monte Fort, plus landmarks like the Macau Tower and Senado Square. And let’s not forget the food (especially if you’re a fan of Portuguese egg tarts!) However, the Wynn Signature – 2024 Hypercar Exhibition aims to attract a different segment of tourists altogether – that of motorheads around the region with its exciting combination of tourism and sports.
Curated Masterpieces
Among the stars of the show are the limited-edition Aston Martin V12 Speedster, launched to celebrate Aston Martin’s 100th anniversary, and the Ferrari F50, commemorating Ferrari’s 50th anniversary. The exhibition also features the Ferrari Enzo Hypercar with its roaring V12 engine, the Koenigsegg Jesko Attack with its innovative ‘Magic Wing’ for immense downforce, and the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster, one of the most expensive cars in Lamborghini history, with only nine vehicles worldwide.
For those seeking something truly unique, the Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the iconic Countach, is a highlight, as is the Lamborghini Sián Roadster, the first open-top hybrid V12 super sports car featuring a supercapacitor. The Porsche GT1 Strassenversion, one of the fiercest and rarest 911s, and the Gunther Werks Coupe, which brings the last generation of the air-cooled Porsche 911 back to life, are also on display. Other noteworthy hypercars include the track-focused Pagani Huayra R, the legendary Pagani Zonda, and the supercharged Pagani Huayra Roadster BC, valued at over US$4 million.
The exhibition also boasts a variety of locations within the Wynn properties, including the South Atrium Lobby at Wynn Palace, where the Apollo Project EVO and Pagani Huayra R are displayed. Visitors can marvel at the Bugatti Chiron and Lamborghini Reventón in the major exhibition area, and explore the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster and Koenigsegg Jesko Attack at the East and West Esplanades respectively.
Zooming in on Koenigsegg
Speaking of the Koenigsegg Jesko Attack, we also got to speak to James Walker, a co-founder of Koenigsegg London, who has his car on display in the resort.
“Seven years ago, I set up the Mr. JWW channel just for the fun of sharing my love for cars. I never anticipated it would become what it is today. It was simply about sharing my passion, and the response has been incredible,” shares Walker. With over 250 million views on his YouTube channel, Walker has become a global influencer, captivating audiences with his in-depth knowledge and enthusiasm, specifically when it comes to Koenigsegg.
“As I delved deeper into the world of hypercars, I began filming extensively with Koenigsegg. We built a strong relationship with Christian von Koenigsegg, which led to exclusive factory tours and first drives. Over time, the channel became an unofficial outlet for Koenigsegg news.”
While speed is a given with hypercars, Koenigsegg owners are passionate about the ‘how’ behind the speed. “The driving experience is mind-blowing. The performance, the design, the innovation – everything about Koenigseggs is extreme. But what I love most is sharing these cars with others. There’s so much detail and innovation in every component. Explaining these to people, especially those unfamiliar with the brand, is incredibly rewarding.” However, like any supercar, owning a Koenigsegg comes with its challenges. “Fuel consumption is definitely something to consider,” Walker admits with a laugh.
An exclusive lifestyle experience
The “Wynn Signature – 2024 Hypercar Exhibition” is more than just an exhibition; it is an embodiment of Wynn’s dedication to providing unmatched luxury lifestyle experiences.
Throughout the exhibition, Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace offer a series of racing-themed culinary surprises at their signature restaurants. Additionally, visitors can explore the “Hyper Shop” pop-up store at Wynn Palace, which sells limited-edition racing-themed products and offers immersive multi-sensory experiences. One of the unique highlights is a life-sized replica of a Formula 1 racing car made entirely of chocolate and fondant. Crafted by a team of award-winning pastry chefs from the United States, this 2.5-meter-long masterpiece, located at the Wynn Palace East Entrance, weighs 100 kilograms and took 360 hours to create. A smaller, 1.5-meter-long version is displayed at the Lakeside Trattoria at Wynn Macau.
There are also luxury brand collaborations. Watchmaker Roger Dubuis will host a “Reaction Training Light Experience” at its boutiques in The Shops at Wynn Palace and Wynn Macau. This event allows guests to experience the daily practice routines of professional race car drivers and admire the brand’s “Hyper Horology” watches inspired by motorsport. Additionally, Girard-Perregaux and British automotive marque Aston Martin will extend their successful collaboration with a display of limited-edition watches at the Girard-Perregaux boutique, celebrating the intersection of design, engineering, performance, and innovation.
This exhibition is not just a visual feast but a testament to Wynn’s commitment to delivering an extraordinary showcase of speed, style, and sophistication at Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace.
