The first drop of the LV2 capsule collection is now available for purchase – take a closer look below.
The long-awaited standalone collaboration between Louis Vuitton menswear creative director Virgil Abloh and Japanese fashion designer and DJ Nigo has finally landed.
First announced in December 2019, the first drop of the LV2 capsule features a capsule of ready-to-wear, leather goods and accessories bearing the graphic motifs and house codes of Louis Vuitton signatures.
Birthed from a longstanding camaraderie between the two dynamic designers, LV2 celebrates the Maison’s travel heritage while observing the London Mod-era through a Tokyo lens. Nigo’s subcultural inspirations from his formative years in London meet the traditional sartorial codes of Virgil’s Pre-Fall 2020 collection for Louis Vuitton to form a tailor-focused capsule fused with the duo’s streetwear expertise.
Among highlighted pieces in the collection include a flight jacket, matching denimwear and Mod suits. The words ‘LV Made’ are emblazoned on the flight jacket alongside a Mount Fuji graphic in a nod to Human Made, a brand founded by Nigo. Meanwhile, the range’s exclusive LV2 logo can also be seen across the collection, whether applied on a zipped jacket, a monogram grey blazer and trousers set or bold, rectangular sunglasses.
Patchwork designs featuring the LV Monogram and Damier check appear often, integrated into two identical denim looks in either blue and black, as well as a double-faced duffle coat with micro-check lining. The patchwork motif continues to permeate a selection of bags and accessories, including a tote, keepall, backpack and money bag – each complemented with animal charms familiar to fans of Nigo.
As for footwear, there’s a formal steel toe-cap derby underlining the Mod spirit alongside a tasselled loafer in Monogram. Also included in the collection are an ankle boot in suede Damier, a hiking boot in sporty Damier leather, a shearling boot in blown-up Damier or in denim, as well as a mule in the same iconic motif.
