Illicit means gave birth to one of the most legit scotch whiskies in the world – The Glenlivet, and from this 29 July to 6 August , the Bothy Experience, located at The Five in Damansara Heights will take you through that journey with lots of whisky on the way.
For some historical context, a ‘bothy’ is a Scottish hut or cottage that is always unlocked and can be used by anyone as a refuge or temporary accommodation. It was in a bothy, over 200 years ago where George Smith began illegally distilling what would eventually become The Glenlivet. He would, in 1824, become the first person in Scotland to apply for and receive a license to legally produce whisky – a milestone that is also being marked with the release of a special edition, The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Licensed Dram.
As with the ambitious George Smith, the bothy is only the beginning of your journey, as several outlets around The Five are also offering different experiences such as pairing menus, tasting flights, and unique cocktails. Every guest who goes on the journey to these outlets will be able to redeem special gifts that include a bottle of The Glenlivet 12 Year Old.

The Bothy Experience
Constructed on Level 2, the Bothy is a multi-stage experience that walks you from the whisky’s beginnings in the Livet Valley, through its production process and ends with a tasting session where guests will get to taste a range of The Glenlivet whiskies, as well as a cocktail capsule inspired by their key flavours, crafted by the expert team at Rakh.
Rakh
At Rakh, guests get to partake in The Glenlivet Culinary Cocktail Experience, where a cocktail made with The Glenlivet 12 Year Old, apple cinnamon, and fireball bitters is served with a little pillow filled with an apple compote. I suggest you eat the pillow first, to enhance the amazing flavour of the cocktail.

Mano

Moving upstairs, The Glenlivet Pairing Dinner Menu at Jwala combines several different The Glenlivet whiskies with fine Indian food, that include the Awadh Dum Briyani and the Nihari Dal Jwala.

Across the walkway from Jwala, guests can try The Glenlivet 15 Year Old-infused dish served with complimentary dram, where the star is the roast duck made with rich and incredibly tasty, The Glenlivet 15 Year Old.

Tickets to The Glenlivet Bothy Experience are RM 88 and are available at the Official Pernod Ricard Malaysia Shopee Store. Alternatively, customers can also get tickets by purchasing a bottle of The Glenlivet from Diineout or Qra at The Five.
