Fathers. We often take their overprotectiveness for being overbearing, look to them for protection during tempestuous times, and rely on their Dad Jokes as a reminder to not take life too seriously – no matter how lame they can get. Fathers are our first and primary pillar in life when it comes to discovering independence and learning some of the most important values in life such as loyalty, perseverance, discipline, and honour.
And no matter how stoic they may appear, fathers will always have a soft spot for their children, and they are one of the best people to turn to for guidance and strength. This Father’s Day, we invited 12 local personalities to share the best advice their fathers have given them. More than just nuggets of wisdom, some of these words are also profound messages they wish to pass onto their children, while others are also shared in honour of their father’s memory.
