This distinguished ranking is determined by the votes of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, a diverse and gender-balanced panel of over 350 industry leaders, including food critics, chefs, restaurateurs, and culinary experts. Recognising outstanding talent and innovation, the list highlights exceptional dining establishments across 16 cities in the region, celebrating the best in gastronomy.

Gaggan Anand’s eponymous restaurant in Bangkok has had multiple iterations and was previously named The Best Restaurant in Asia a record four times. In late 2019, he unveiled a reimagined version of his culinary concept in a new location. By 2023, the restaurant had returned to the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list and has consistently ascended to the peak, solidifying Anand’s reputation for visionary creativity and groundbreaking gastronomy.
The avant-garde 20+ course menu seamlessly fuses progressive Indian flavours with Japanese, French, and Thai influences. Designed as an immersive culinary journey, each dish plays with taste, texture, and technique, enhanced by biodynamic wine pairings, theatrical presentations, and an edgy soundtrack. At the intimate 14-seat counter, guests witness the artistry firsthand, transforming dining into an interactive experience where innovation takes centrestage.

Country-wise, leading the list with nine entries each are Bangkok and Tokyo. Besides Gaggan (No.1), Bangkok features a new addition to the list – Gaggan at Louis Vuitton (No. 31). In Tokyo, Sézanne, previously the No.1 restaurant in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2024, is ranked No. 4. The other entries from the capital of Japan are joined with newcomers Maz (No. 43) and Myoujyaku (No. 45).
Hong Kong is represented by seven establishments this year, led by The Chairman at No. 2 and Wing at No.3. Caprice achieves an impressive 14-spot climb to No. 18, while newcomer Estro debuts at No. 32.
