One for the foodies, Tiffin started out as a pop-up event before finally settling down at Sentul Depot. Every edition has seen new restaurants and innovative dishes alongside a great platform to connect with friends. But this year comes a special edition, where Singapore Tourism Board (STB) in conjunction with its “Passport To Feast” culinary event in Malaysia, is showcasing Singapore’s best at Tiffin at the Yard.
This weekend (9th – 11th September) will feature high-end dishes, from the country’s top cocktail bar to their very own Masterchef winner. You’ll also get to meet some of the founders and chefs while savouring their delectable creations.
Scaled by Ah Hua Kelong (Sitdown dinner, pre-booking only)
Scaled is the first-ever fish farmer-owned restaurant in Singapore, bringing regional seafood from the Kelongs (floating fish farms) directly to diners’ plates. Using co-founder and chef Ron’s mod-Sin style, expect unique dishes like Smoked Seabass Pate, Scaled Curry Mussels and more.
This special six-course sit-down dinner will only run for two nights, with limited seats so make sure to book now via 018-232 2512 (WhatsApp between 10am – 6pm). If you have any questions during your dinner, founder Wong Jing Kai will be there to answer them while you sample their fish (hand-carried from their farms).
Xiao Ya Tou (A la carte, all-day)
The moniker means ‘little rebel’, which is pretty suitable considering the fusion restaurant’s modern take on Singapore classics. Xiao Ya Tou hails from the trendy Duxton Hill and will be serving Lobster Kueh Pai Tee and Singaporean-style Hokkien Mee among others this weekend.
The spicy mala noodle bowl will surely be a treat for spice lovers while the XYT Singapore-style Hokkien mee exudes flavours from the wok. For a more opulent experience, get the XYT Wagyu Beef Rice Bowl featuring braised wagyu beef and onsen egg.
MasterChef Singapore S3 (2022) Johnathan Chew (A la carte, lunch & dinner, limited portions)
Johnathan Chew, a dental student and the Season 3 (2022) winner of Masterchef Singapore, will demonstrate his contemporary interpretation of a classic meal at a live cooking station. Get ready to savour his Laksa Risotto with sea prawn & bean sprout salad with sous vide egg and laksa leaf oil.
Laut Collective (A la carte, all-day)
Laut produces seasonal cuisine experiences with the aid of passionate local producers, taking inspiration from the great diversity of culture and produce that South East Asia offers. The menu is filled with unique items like Char Siu Tuna, Otah Sando and Pandan Donut that are sure to pique your interest.
KIAP x Taco King Collab (A la carte, all-day)
A special collaboration between Singapore’s KIAP and KL’s Taco King is something to taco bout! Only at Tiffin, the purveyors of handheld pleasures will be featuring Asian flavours like ayam buah keluak tacos alongside vegan chicken rendang tacos. But that’s not all as Western flairs like the umai tostada is also expected to make an appearance.
Jekyll & Hyde (Cocktails, all-day)
Singapore’s pioneer cocktail bar will be at Tiffin this weekend, serving whimsical cocktails and elevated Singapore soul food. You can find playful creations like a tau fu fah-focused cocktail alongside a caffeine-infused drink. The bar will also be taking a Malaysian favourite, the air bandung, and turning that into a concoction that’s familiarly fragrant.
