In the echelons of India’s elite, all eyes are now on Anant Ambani – the youngest scion of Reliance Industries billionaire patriarch, Mukesh Ambani. Having graduated with a degree in business management from the prestigious Brown University, Anant acquired a strong understanding of fundamental business principles.
Founded by Anant’s father Mukesh in 1996, the success of Reliance Industries, a massive conglomerate that operates in sectors ranging from oil and gas, telecom, petrochemicals, retail and financial services has been nothing short of remarkable, and it has cemented the family’s position as one of the most influential in the country. According to Forbes, his father’s net worth is $117 billion, making him the eleventh richest man globally and the first in Asia.
While the Ambani legacy is well established, the family’s future endeavors are equally exciting and promising. Anant, like his siblings Isha and Akash, is to become the next successor of the Reliance Industries empire. For the unversed, the Ambani trio was inducted into the Reliance’s Board of Directors in August 2023, with Anant being in charge of its energy businesses, alongside its global operations in renewable and green energy.

Like his siblings, Anant is very well-educated. As a child, he studied at Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai – a school named after his grandfather. He then pursued his studies at Brown University in the US, following in the footsteps of his older brother, Akash.
Anant has shown a keen interest in being involved in the family business since he was young. Among his siblings, he has spent the most time at the company’s campus and has been involved in social activities with his mother, Nita. His passion for green energy led him to spearhead Reliance’s renewable energy business.
Anant is also intensely passionate about animal welfare from a very young age. He’s currently involved with several initiatives across rescue, healthcare, rehabilitation and conservation of animals. Despite being born into a family of immense wealth and influence, Anant has garnered attention for his own unique journey, particularly in the realms of health and fitness. Growing up, he struggled with asthma which caused him to take steroids that led to weight gain, his mother told Times of India in 2017.
Anant’s wedding to Radhika Merchant, the daughter of CEO of Encore Healthcare Viren Merchant, has been the talk of the town for months now. The two are set to tie the knot this July.
Their pre-wedding festivities have, however, already begun in March. The lavish celebration, which stretched luxuriously across three days in Jamnagar, featured a series of star-studded events that saw Rihanna and Akon taking the stage for once-in-a-lifetime musical performances.
As expected, some of the country and the world’s most noteworthy figures, from Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates to Sundar Pichai and Ivanka Trump were in attendance. Prominent Bollywood stars, the likes of Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif, amongst many others, also made sure to be part of the celebrations.
