These are some of the vehicles we’ve spotted in our favourite superhero films that we mere mortals can take on.
It would be extremely cool if we could own Batman’s Tumbler (aka Batmobile) or X-Men’s Blackbird jet, but sadly, those are either fictional or unpractical in the real world. What you could consider getting your hands on, however, are the real-life vehicles that superheroes drive in the movies.
We kept an eye out for impressive rides while watching our favourite superhero films, and these are some of the vehicles we’ve spotted that us mere mortals can take on.
Batman: Lamborghini Murciélago, Aventador & Aston Martin DB Mark III
When not in his Batmobile, Batman or rather, his alter ego Bruce Wayne, is often seen in a flashy car of some sort. In Batman Begins, he drives his Lamborghini Murciélago to a hotel whereby the parking valet attendant referred to the vehicle as a “nice car”, to which Bruce replied, “you should see my other one.” (Fun fact: Murciélago means bat in Spanish.) Later on in The Dark Knight Rises, Bruce arrives at Miranda Tate’s charity ball in his Aventador LP700-4, which later got impounded outside Wayne Enterprises after the billionaire lost his fortune. When Ben Affleck took over the role in Batman vs Superman, Bruce is seen driving a classic Aston Martin DB Mark III to a gala hosted by Lex Luthor.
Captain America: 1942 Harley-Davidson WLA, Street 750 & Audi SQ7
The first vehicle you’d probably think of when it comes to Captain America aka Steve Rodgers is his signature bike; well, there were three and they were all from Harley-Davidson. During his service in World War II in the first Captain America film, The Winter Soldier, Steve rode a modified version of the 1942 Harley Davidson WLA “Liberator”. On off-duty days, Steve preferred his Softail Slim for personal use whereas in Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, he rode the Street 750 for S.H.I.E.L.D missions. What you probably didn’t know was that the muscular superhero also had brief contact with an Audi SQ7, the performance version of Audi’s Q7 SUV. Steve drove the SQ7 – the fastest diesel SUV – during a car chase with The Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War.
Green Hornet: Chrysler Imperial
Arguably one of the most popular real-life vehicles used in any superhero flick, whether modified or not, is the 1965 Chrysler Imperial in The Green Hornet film back in 2011. Dubbed as the Black Beauty, the revamped Chrysler featured two Browning .30 caliber machine guns mounted on the hood, 12 Stinger missiles on the front and rear bumpers, a flamethrower on the front grill, beanbag launchers and shotgun barrels. Originally used by The Green Hornet and his sidekick, Kato in the movie, the Chrysler has since been auctioned off to the highest bidder in 2014.
Iron Man: Audi R8 Coupe, Spyder, E-tron, V10 & Acura NSX
It’s no secret that Tony Stark is a fan of Audis, particularly the R8, having a number of them in his pretentious car collection. The wealthy businessman and self-made superhero drove a silver R8 in the first Iron Man installation, followed by a white R8 Spyder in Iron Man 2, a red R8 e-tron in Iron Man 3 and a stunning orange second-gen 2016 R8 in Avengers: Age of Ultron. However, the man behind the red suit did take a short break from the German automotive near the end of The Avengers movie, where he opted for the Acura NSX concept car instead.
Logan: Chrysler E8
Though the younger Logan aka Wolverine usually rode around in Scott’s bike in the X-Men series, grown-up Logan made a living by chauffeuring in his Chrysler E8, as seen in the first half of the Logan movie (before it got destroyed). The 2024 black limousine was custom-made for the show based on the existing Chrysler 300 model, so we guess there may only (have been) one of its kind in the world; but it was a real-life vehicle nonetheless – and quite a badass one, too.
