The MCO-approved #pillowchallenge micro-trend takes comfortable fashion to new heights.
During the time of MCO, it’s not rare to find ourselves spending each passing day in our comfiest pyjamas or sweatpants in attempt to cocoon ourselves from any news on the COVID-19 pandemic. Though staying at home keeps us safe and healthy, it’s no doubt that at some point no matter how many sourdough recipes we go through, there will be a time when we get so bored that we eventually decide – “why not fashion a dress out of a pillow?”
Thus, the quarantine #pillowchallenge was born on Instagram. The social media challenge which involves wearing one or two medium-to-large pillows as a sort of makeshift mini dress, held together with a belt cinching the waist. Though it’s budget wear and proof that there are officially no rules when it comes to the limits of fashion – it does look like something one could expect to see on the runway. It’s daring, silly, irreverent, timeless, sexy, comfy, and quarantine chic.
The #pillowchallenge has over 230,000 posts to date, with internet personalities and celebrities taking on the challenge and some even putting their own unique spin on it with various accessories. Scroll down to check out some of our favourite styles – who knows, maybe you could be inspired to contribute to the hashtag at the end of it.
One of the best parts of this challenge – it’s body positive and inclusive!

Out of all the styles and looks this challenge has brought in, there’s no doubt that Sofia Vergara’s adorable little pooch just shut down this entire challenge, paws’ down.
