Sivasangari Subramaniam – Entertainment and Sports
Forbes has recognised Sivasangari Subramaniam, a talented Malaysian squash player, in the Entertainment and Sports category for her outstanding achievements on the global stage. Chef Zhe Xi, together with his university classmate Chef Soh Yong Zhi, established Eat and Cook, a remarkable omakase-style restaurant that showcases Malaysian cuisine, after experiencing unemployment during the pandemic.
Thanks to their extraordinary culinary expertise and unwavering commitment, the restaurant has gained recognition as one of Asia’s Best 50 Restaurants in 2022, receiving the prestigious American Express One To Watch Award and earning a Michelin Recommended status.
Erica Eng – Media, Marketing, & Advertising
At the young age of 26, Erica Eng has made a name for herself by receiving the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia award. She started with her comic ‘Fried Rice’ on Tumblr, which led her to win an Eisner Award – an achievement that significantly elevated the prospects of Malaysia’s comic and animation industry.
‘Fried Rice’ tells the story of Min, inspired by Eng’s own experiences, who faced rejection to study in America and overcoming various obstacles. Eng is now at Dark Sandwich, a local gameplay and animation studio, while concurrently developing her latest webcomic, titled ‘Beloved’.
