Are you a plant parent obsessed with turning your home into a lush paradise? Or perhaps a fragrance lover with a proclivity for green scents? Loewe’s first ever home fragrance collection is made for the likes of you, featuring scents inspired by Victorian botanical gardens and the apothecary’s craft.
“Passionate for gardens, for plants and their unique smells, when I joined LOEWE I already had in mind to create candles and add an olfactory dimension,” said creative director Jonathan Anderson. “I am happy to introduce this new line of home fragrances and potted candles based on the raw essences of a vegetable garden.”
Working together with the Spanish brand’s in-house perfumier Nuria Cruelles, Anderson reinterpreted plant essences into their own standalone scent, taking the form of candles, wax candleholders, home fragrances and rattan diffusers.

“The selection of scents follows a very personal trail. These are olfactory sketches that remind me of my childhood, of different journeys I have taken,” Anderson elaborated on the collection.
His anecdotes highlight why the collection offers more than mere olfactory gratification; each item doubling as a piece of interior décor to spruce up the home. For instance, the handcrafted ribbed terracotta vessel holding the candles were inspired by a 5th Century BC Greek mug the designer bought at an auction years ago. Another candle base appears moulded together with the candle and cotton wick, referencing a classic Louis XIV-era French candelabrum.
The candles are made with wax derived only from natural ingredients and embossed with the signature LOEWE monogram and finished with ‘Made in Spain’. Even the packaging is made in Spain, in collaboration with photographer Erwan Frotin, who portrayed the collection’s botanical inspirations as modern takes of Japanese artist Kazuma Ogawa’s prints.
Each box is decorated with his photography of the respective plant that inspired the fragrance within against a coloured background, creating dialogue between scent and ingredient, inspiration and outcome, to seamlessly close the creative circle – the way Anderson knows best.
The LOEWE Home Scents collection will launch in selected LOEWE stores worldwide, perfumesloewe.com and loewe.com on 3 September.
